NOX AND LENG T'CHE JOIN FORCES AT ART EXHIBITION

After the recent and successful exhibitions of the Big Active artists' collective and photographer Simon Norfolk, Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam is turning it's attention towards British artist and Terrorizer-approved metalhead Richard Sayer, a.k.a Rotten French (He who did our awesome Dyscarnate show poster of a few months back).

The exhibition will be launched with a one-off exclusive show that has Team Terrorizer scrambling around desperately on cheap flights websites.

Wieden+Kennedy's executive creative director Jeff Kling notes "It helps if we destroy ourselves with fair regularity: our assumptions, our role modes of thought, our stale junk. Metal reboots us, brains pink with inspiration; hearts black with what we hope is wisdom."

His partner, executive creative director John Norman, is quick to add: "The real reason we're doing a metal show is we don't need no stinking reason."

The free-entry opening will take place this Friday, July 3rd, from 19:00 onwards at the W+K Amsterdam headquarters (Herengracht 258, Amsterdam). The vernissage will be followed from 22:00 onwards by a brutal, live metal massacre at legendary club The Cave (Prinsengracht 472, Amsterdam), featuring the bands Inhume, Nox and Leng Tch’e.

Rotten French hails from Aldershot, a town known for its army base, which the artist has described as “a good place to start an interest in war, the military, darkness and torn body parts, I suppose”. An obsession with the aesthetics of metal music shapes French's unique work, wherein he literally draws the line between the magnificent and the repulsive.

Over the years French’s haunting and delicate artwork has attracted the attention of music and youth culture marketers, and has infiltrated both contemporary art and the artist’s all-time favorite: the skateboarding scene.

About Wieden & Kennedy

Wieden+Kennedy is an independent, creatively led advertising agency that creates strong and provocative relationships between good companies and their consumers.

Twenty-five years ago Dan Wieden and David Kennedy quit their jobs to start a different kind of ad agency. A place where people would come to do the best work of their careers. A place for creating provocative, interesting brands that people actually care about. That kind of advertising became known as "the work," and everything else came second. Before ego. Before politics. Before sleep. Before "the prudent thing to do." Wieden+Kennedy was created to be a place where the work came first.

Always true to that mission, Wieden+Kennedy has helped create some
of the strongest, most memorable brands in the world, and in the process helped clients like Nike, ESPN, and Coca-Cola enjoy their rightful place in popular culture. An admiring former employee once noted, "Without Wieden + Kennedy, it's hard to imagine a fitness club on every other block in Manhattan. Their work changed architecture."

With offices in Portland, Amsterdam, New York, Shangai, Tokio, Delhi and London, Wieden+Kennedy counts with an absolutely unique rooster of clients, which includes Nike, Coca-Cola Company, Nokia, EA Games, Diageo, ESPN, Lego, Nikon, Honda and Heineken amongst many others.

About the bands

Leading the way in brutal death/grind since 1994, INHUME started out as a 9 piece on the initial try-out but soon slinked down to a sextet setting out to conquer the world with unmatched brutality and grinding madness. With members and ex-members involved with other big names in today's metal scene, INHUME is to date is one of the biggest grind/death acts in Europe.

LENG TCH'E formed in early 2001, basing their own hybrid of grindcore on bands such as Regurgitate, Hemdale, Nasum and Blood Duster and mixing it all up with some stoner / rock / hardcore influences, the band baptized their own unique style, now known as 'razorgrind'. After two albums with The Spew Records in Europe, they signed a deal with Relapse Records for their next album, "The Process Of Elimination" in 2005. In 2007 they release "Marasmus", their second full-length for Relapse Records.

After years of revolving door lineups, the band finally settled into its current incarnation of Jan Hallaert on guitar, Tony Van den Eynde on drums, Serge Kasongo on vocals and Nicolas Malfeyt on bass guitar. With the creative nucleus stronger than ever, LENG TCH'E will release a split CD/7" with Canadian stalwarts Fuck The Facts on Power It Up Records. Meanwhile the songwriting continues for the upcoming full length album, due out in 2009.

Without a doubt one of the most punishing extreme metal acts around today, NOX is actually made up of some familiar faces, being comprised of Rob Oorthuis (guitars), Seth v/d Loo (vocals) and Patrick Boleij (bass), formerly of Centurian, the latter two currently known as members of Severe Torture, and newcomer Bob Dussel (drums).

The band have previously released just a three-track CD entitled 'Zazaz', but already the intent of the band is clear - fast, complex, swirling Death/Black Metal based on insane rhythms and a distinctly blasphemous and occult concept designed to rip the souls of the living and the dead into Black Chaos. NOX is far from just a collaboration between four musicians, NOX is a distinct entity itself.
