 Celtic Frost Poll
Ok - given the tragic events of the past 24 hours this speaks for itself. And yes I've included EPs and compilations..............

 Re: Celtic Frost Poll
Tough one. I'd have gone for To Mega Therion without question until Monotheist came along. Plus, I've really come around to Morbid Tales in recent years...
I'll go with To Mega Therion, it's probably their definitive release.

 Re: Celtic Frost Poll
I gave the vote to To Mega Therion, but I adore Monotheist and that's probably my overall fav I suppose.
T.M.T has a special energy though.

 Re: Celtic Frost Poll
I'd happily buy Cold Lake if Tom had any interest in releasing it.
It isn't a great album, but I'd like to have it in my collection nonetheless.

 Re: Celtic Frost Poll
It certainly is an odd curio in the band's discography. Right up there with Discharge's 'Grave New World' as the strangest change in direction that I've heard from a seminal act.

 Re: Celtic Frost Poll
1. Top Mega Therion 2. Into The Pandemonium 3. Morbid Tales 4. Monotheist
I've got Cold Lake on CD, but only listen to it once a year or so. It's pretty rubbish, but still better than Vanity/Nemesis, which was just one total compromise from beginning to end.

 Re: Celtic Frost Poll
It's a compromise with some very good songs. Cold Lake has nothing.

 Re: Celtic Frost Poll
Although such a great progression in sound, I gotta go with the first album, the one that takes me back to being a teenager blown away against the wall when I first heard it.

I could ever get into Monotheist. It doesn't sound like Frost to me.

 Re: Celtic Frost Poll
Morbid Tales - Into The Pandemonium. Cold Lake is nonsense and Vanity/Nemesis isn't much better. I've tried many times with Monotheist. Bought it the minute it came out. I just can't get into the fucker. I probably even prefer Triptykon to Monotheist.

Cuchulainn wrote: Morbid Tales - Into The Pandemonium. . Even those albums are vastly different. So there must've been some common element between the all. Maybe just the general spookiness of it all. I guess altogether I'm a Tom G Warrior fan because I even enjoy his Apollyon Sun stuff. But I will concede with Tom that Cold Lake is best to be dismissed. Easy enough to find Tom's own thoughts on the album online. http://www.metalunderground.com/news/de ... wsid=54422But like many, I also think that any re-recorded songs on the Parched With Thirst Am I And Dying compilation are actually okay.
