To be fair megacunt could save the world, he would still be ginger and a cunt.

Show over Reign? Controversial! It's definitely underrated, that's for sure.

Re: First four - Slayer vs. Metallica
Possibly due to overlistening RiB on my part, though. But despite having listened to SNM at least as much as I have RiB (possibly more by now), it still has yet to lose its charm. It's one of my favourite speed/thrash/black metal albums from the 80's.

I guess it depends on which one I'm actually listening to at the time. If I absolutely had to choose one it would probably be RiB, but their first five are 40/40. 1. Reign in Blood 2. Hell Awaits (was my first intro to them back in the 80s. It literally creeped me out. Evil sounding shit. Fate's Melissa also did that to me back then) 3. South of Heaven 4. Show No Mercy 5. Seasons

No. They're close but KEA has a clear and distinct difference in song quality, variety and sound. handmadegod wrote: Hell Awaits > Ride The Lightning
On a par. It's a coin toss between them really. Ride probably has better highlights but worse weakness. handmadegod wrote: Reign In Blood > Master Of Puppets
Definitely. There are very few albums in existence that would turn that arrow round the other way. handmadegod wrote: South Of Heaven > ...And Justice For All
Agree. It's a tiny margin. South is more succinct and its classics are better. handmadegod wrote: Seasons In They Abyss > The Black Album
By a mile. handmadegod wrote: Divine Intervention > Load
By a mile. handmadegod wrote: Undisputed Attitude > Reload
Yes, but neither matters. handmadegod wrote: Diabolus In Musica > St. Anger
Again yes, but who cares. handmadegod wrote: World Painted Blood > Christ Illusion > God Hates Us All > Death Magnetic
Yes. GHUA and DM could probably be switched if someone cared - both terrible albums. handmadegod wrote: Repentless > Hardwired... To Self-Destruct
There is no such Slayer album as "Repentless".

I agree with the smaller margins. Repentless came out last year.

Re: First four - Slayer vs. Metallica
handmadegod wrote: Show No Mercy > Kill Em' All Of course. Both heavily NWOBHM-influenced, but Show No Mercy walks all over Kill 'Em All in terms of aggression and intent. handmadegod wrote: Hell Awaits > Ride The Lightning Utter bollocks. Slayer's second worst release compared to Metallica's (and the rest of the Big Four's) finest album. There's no comparison, Ride The Lightning farts in Hell Awaits' general direction. handmadegod wrote: Reign In Blood > Master Of Puppets Again, wrong. Master Of Puppets and Ride The Lightning are both superior to anything Slayer released, though the gap is a lot smaller here. handmadegod wrote: South Of Heaven > ...And Justice For All Back on track here. Slayer's finest hour and the least of Metallica's first four albums. No contest. handmadegod wrote: Seasons In The Abyss > The Black Album Yep. Slayer's last truly great album and Metallica's cash grab. Metallica (to give it its actual title) is a great pop/metal album but it's weak and diluted, and has Nothing Else matters, which can eternally fuck off. handmadegod wrote: Divine Intervention > Load Indeed. Divine Intervention is a decent album, but it offered absolutely nothing new whatsoever and was the first of their many 'going through the motions' albums to come. Load had a few decent tracks but is absolutely bloated and deserved to be an EP, really. handmadegod wrote: Undisputed Attitude > Reload Cover albums don't count, especially when they're this shit but if they did, this would be Slayer's worst album. Even the one original song is decidedly average. ReLoad, like Load, had a handful of decent tracks but didn't need to be a full-length, at all. Combine the best tracks on this and Load and you'd have an alright album. Bin the rest. handmadegod wrote: Diabolus In Musica > St. Anger Well, obviously. St. Anger's the worst release here, the only confirmed 0/5 album listed. Utterly worthless and irredeemable. Diabolus In Musica might be Slayer's worst overall but it pisses all over St. Anger. handmadegod wrote: World Painted Blood > Christ Illusion > God Hates Us All > Death Magnetic Repentless > Hardwired... To Self-Destruct God Hates Us All is the only decent Slayer album here, but it's only just that. Again, no new ground but it's the only thing post-Divine Intervention worth listening to. Utterly inessential, obviously. The rest are just wallpaper. Hardwired..., poor as it is, is certainly better than Death Magnetic, which was just a half-hearted attempt to appease the old fans who'd been alienated by their previous 15 years' worth of releases, it never hit the target. Hardwired... is slowly growing on me - it's not fit to lick the first four albums' boots (of course) but it's a step in the right direction. Shit lyrics, really shit lyrics, though. And waaay too long.

Re: First four - Slayer vs. Metallica
The only insignificant difference is you're a bigger fan of MOP and RTL than you're of HA and RIB and I tend to lean slightly towards the Slayer two.

Re: First four - Slayer vs. Metallica
I'm so fussy with records, no matter what kind of Metal I'm listening to I tend to be particular. For instance when I play Thrash I tend to listen to the more aggressive, darker records.

Re: First four - Slayer vs. Metallica
Just broke the deadlock by voting for Metallica. It's very close for me.
Kill 'Em All > Show No Mercy Ride the Lightning > Hell Awaits Master of Puppets < Reign in Blood ...And Justice for All < South of Heaven Metallica < Seasons in the Abyss Load < Divine Intervention ReLoad > Diabolus in Musica Garage Inc. > Undisputed Attitude St. Anger < God Hates Us All
I would have to listen to their live ones and the most recent ones again to choose winners there.
