Post 80's Black Metal 2: debut albums
So here's Bathory's debut, which many call the first black metal album. But it was essentially a rewrite of Venom's Black Metal. Some of the lyrics are so close even, that it'd make you wonder if Quorthorn had expected anyone outside Sweden to actually hear the album when he was wroting it.

You've also got the actual Venom, Frost and Sodom debuts with the earlier nascent sound in each. And Melissa, the clear winner imo, which definitely had the coolest vibe and mystique of all.

Sarcofago were shite.

Bathory and Sarcofago are BM, the rest aren't.

The only Sarcofago album I heard was poorly played thrash. Were they different early on?

Which album were you listening to? I.N.R.I fits the definition of mid-to-late 80's BM perfectly, so I'm guessing it wasn't that one. Their Rotting EP was probably more along the lines of thrash, and I can't remember much about their '91 release.

It was the one with the song about raping a drunk woman. In very bad metalenglisch

So what's the difference between that and early black metal then?

I'm listening to this for, I think, the second time. More BM sounding than I was expecting from descriptions. An observation: it's apparently 26:50 long and the first three and a but minutes are sound effects/atmospherics.

Indeed, it's very short indeed.
