Like WASP, TS & ManOwar I've always bunch these together probably cos theyre all Swedish melodic DM. Soilwork had an album last year & IF & DT this year! Which is best? (Only DT dont sound like LP)

1. Dark Tranquillity
2. In Flames
3. Soilwork

Soilwork have never released a genuinely great record while both Dark Tranquillity & In Flames have released a couple each. Dark Tranquillity's best work is just a touch more impressive though & they haven't faded anywhere near as badly as In Flames have in recent times either.

This. Sorry BL, but each band is None Of My Business.

In Flames' first EP and album were promising, but then they went all melodic. Never liked Soilwork. Dark Tranquillity is my favourite of this bunch, but isn't really a band I often listen to.

If I delete that removed DT video will it re-set the poll? Or only if I add bands like before. :?:

In Flames > Soilwork > Dark Tranquillity (those 2 l's piss me off)

Never really got into Soilwork. In Flames are a bit of a guilty pleasure, even their recent stuff.
But Dark Tranquillity have the much stronger and more consistent back catalogue.

Maybe The Gallery but theres something meh. Still listen to their new albums.

"The Gallery" is the best record that any of these three bands have released. It would comfortably make my top five for melodic death metal as a whole.

Jesus H Fucking Christ on a bike. What is the fucking point of this thread? The forum is on it's arse and we have shite like this as a new topic?

This thread even more relevant after hearing the new DT song. Now they are all in the 'Park' !

Never understood why people like Dark Tranquility. Seen them twice and they were piss boring. In Flames and Soilwork are well past their sell by dates, but at least they were good (15 years ago).

Question...are forums in general dying? Or is it just this one in particular? Presumably facebook/ snapchat/ instagram/ etc. have more or less taken over?

The latter really. There's no real good communities anymore that I am aware of, there's still more activity on here than some of the others I once frequented. What's left out there generally speaking is just shite threads done a million times before and fucking polls!

Is it safe to say the Tez readership has become a lot more casual? It seemed to be quite hardcore "bak in the day". That could have something to do with our empty forum too, no?

A lot of the old regulars have moved on, and a lot of the back-and-forth, in-jokes and forum 'memes' (for want of a better word) have gone with them. Shame really, there was a lot of fun to be had.

I don't think many of us have been regular readers of the mag for a good few years. I bought the current copy yesterday due to a severely wet day in North Wales, it did nothing to brighten my day.

I used to enjoy the forum a lot more, spent many consecutive hours of an evening on here. Not anyone's fault, just fast becoming a redundant place.

I gave it up for good after the thought policing "heavy metal is gay" article. I can't in good conscience subsidise a publication that engages in that kind of rot.

I did try getting the issue with Ed Blackadder's Spazz/ Slap-a-ham article, but it wasn't in the shop when I went. :(
