Post Fear Candy concern.
Some of the latest Fear Candy cd's have featured some very dubious/shit tracks on them, mostly the tracks that tailor off towards the end of the cd. I know Terrorizer can't be blamed for some of the more weaker 'extreme' metal bands out there but do they really need to feature them on the Fear Candy cd's? The main culprits are the 'core' or 'screamo' fringe faggot bands that Terrorizer seems to be pushing lately. If I want to listen to shit like that I'll buy Metal Hammer, sort it out please.

Just rip the tracks you want and then dump the cd.

Another concern is that it's still called Fear Candy. I think it's a Selzer pun, but even at the time I remember thinking it was a bit rubbish by his usual standards. What was wrong with Terrorized!

Tbh I don't think I've listened to a fear candy cd for a year or so now.

I just got fed up of sitting through tracks I didn't like when I could be listening to music I did.

I gave upon them years before I gave up on the magazine. I sent about 40 of the things to the charity shop, unplayed.

Is having £500 in readies still the only real criteria for getting on the CD? If so I would say that's the answer to your question.

Apparently so.

That and a few bands desperate for the publicity.

The two go hand in hand.

Oh god yeah, their albums with Karl are toss.

Bollocks. fucking bullshit.

Louder is a consistent, fun-filled, 4 fist, but wings-clipped, ManOsmasheR. Warriors gets a marred, and track-skipping 3, and has some real excellence on it that could compete with anything the bands done elsewhere.

Deicide are an all pants and no trousers, kick-lots-of-dust-up-and-call-it-intensity, blustery, right-place-right-time, bag of wind for a band.

I gave about 80 or so to OCR via Necrolee, they ripped to my HD but are mostly unlistened to, they may have to be deleted to makes some space.

I awlays picked albums from the reviews, never bothered with the CDs, except maybe as an afterthought. I might have stuck them on in the background but never paid any attention to what I was hearing. Gave up even doing that a long time ago.

The early CDs were generally much better in terms of content, specifically the Terrorized ones. I used to (pre mp3) make my own compilation CDs out of those and the occasional decent track from Metal Hammer CDs. Like JCC, they were also for the discman.

They went downhill over time and that happened a long time ago, they most have (overwhelmingly) shit for the last 5-6 years.

Could it be a case of the quality of bands they have to pick from is more watered down than years ago? There seem to be a hell of a lot of bands out there and they can't all be doing something new and original I suppose.

It's interesting to read that people buy a music mag and don't listen to the music that comes with it. I always have a listen even if its just a skip through, but I will admit nothing has jumped out at me and made me seek out more for a long time.

Fear Candy has always had a wealth of gash. Saposmittz anyone?

I don't even bother with them anymore. They used to be good for listening to the best songs off of new albums, but it's mostly middle-of-the-road one-good-song-per-album stuff like Kataklysm or Vader or all new Deicide albums that's on it, so I can take it or leave it.

I don't understand why bands would pay 500 quid to put a track on a disc, that money could be used elsewhere for self promotion/playing shows. But then I understand most metal bands don't actually want to work too hard to get bigger, they hardly do the DIY thing and just be lazy anyway.
