Recently? No. It's been twinned with deathcore/metalcore fascination always. It's just the only real one of the "cores" that's managed to hold my attention. I've only recently started getting more interested in the DIY stuff though.

EDIT: PMA and Posi can get fucked though. Youth Crew is not my thing D:

For generating money for the magazine from bands paying to be on it?

Well yes.
I have found allot of bands because of the CD's, I can't be the only reader to do so, it isn't a waste of money. Only need 60 or so people to buy an album to make it worth while.

After you read the choice cuts section of the magazine you then listen to some of the bands on the cd and voila you've either discovered a great new band or you've heard shit.

This. And what Bas said. To be honest, if Terrorizer or other mags didn't put a CD on the front, I'd think twice about buying it/them - I've discovered loads of stuff through those CDs over the years, stuff that I probably would have dismissed out of hand if I'd just read a review or a Choice Cuts article, or would have just plain never have heard of. To class the CDs as "full of shit" or worthless is completely blinkered.

Am surprised at Hammer though - they now give away full albums by proper bands.

I've never been a Chimeira fan, but they're far from dreadful, and their new album is being given away free with Hammer... how does that work? For £4.50 it's worth picking up just for the album (though I haven't listened to it - the Chimeira album - yet)

Looks like Terrorizer is following suit this month with the free album ploy. Hope it goes no further though. I don't want to be getting the mag just for the free skull keyring or extreme metal toy on the front like my kids do with blinking peppa pig monthly.

Nothing wrong with Hammer's free gifts. I have a Manowar poster and dozens of Iron Maiden stickers should I ever decide to decorate my room. Over the years they have given away a free t shirt which was perfect bedwear and an In Flames condom which I never got to use.

Mine mysteriously disappeared. It didn't fit too well or maybe I have a big Polish head like Nergal.

I found a couple of good bands in the past years on Fear Candy, the rest was just dire/shite/bad.

Desert Storm was one good example I recall from one of the recent ones.

This time there was no FC included in my mag, but the Zonderhoof CD, which was a welcome breath of fresh air! I tend to ignore all that metalcore stuff, not my kind of thing
