Only just picked it up - another good issue, yet to read the Dimmu feature, would've loved to have done that.

The Devy track is a nice little bonus.

Thoughts?

I really like the Devin track, actually, though I guess that's not what he normally sounds like.

I like the fact that he's misspelt Terrorizer in the photo.

I though whilst I was glad there was a Cathedral feature, it felt like after I read it I hadn't really learned anything new from it.

Also completely disagree with Louise labelling Jaguar as False.

I read my mother-in-laws copy of the latest issue last night, the first time in over 2 years.
It was crap.

I stick to keeping up with music through the labels now.

I'll bet Termoid will be interested, for comparative purposes.

Amen to that. You should join myself and Chantler when we pop round to have a little chat with her.

You really are pushing hard for funniest poster, aren't you?

I see little need to push for an award my musical taste seems to already have won.

Yes I just noticed this bit. I don't understand, unless it's a delayed response to This Time being overly AOR? They've recently released some scorching and thorough archive retrospectives full of killer early live and demo tunes like Stormchild, War Machine, Battlecry, Ain't No Fantasy... Besides, the band that made the Back Street Woman 7" and the Power Games LP cannot be described as 'false' by anyone who's happy to promote Evanescence.

The Kvelertak singer has good taste.
Eugene Robinson is a good man

i have yet to reat the interview with the Devils Blood.
But this magazine hasnt had much stuff in my taste. But the two things mentioned above made it worth the read.

Also; a Shining interview in the next issue?? Wouldnt that be the third one in less than a year?? haha

Also noticed Warlord holding a Sonata Arctica album in the pictures for hard of hearing despite not being featured.

This is happening nearly every month, they should make it a competition 'spot the album photographed but not mentioned'

my only query is are the albums not written up included in the overall score?

Word count, in any interview you ask more questions than actually go into the feature. It's just when you've got physical evidence of the questions you asked in a photo, it looks a bit strange if that's not included in the feature.

I know why it happens, it was explained in the 216 thread, but it still amused me.

They didn't know "Kill with power" anyway and thus are FALSE!!!

Found it such a stock, shit issue.

Less dumbing down, though, which is good, and I liked the Insomnium piece, it was pretty interesting, BUT it seems all the pieces are turning biographical about the interviewees, some to better effect than others. A one off, fine, but every article? And with the Insomnium, it needed another 5-800 words so as to actually mention the music and the album?

I read one article (some band on Southern Lord) and it didn't mention a fucking word about what they sounded like, just a load of shit about some guy going to Antarctica.

I was on the train home last night - gave a read of The Devil's Blood and Cathedral features - both I liked.
