I've never heard of them but I approve of their taste and discrimination.

5 fists (little piles of red coins?) for the new Alcest? Seems a tad on the generous side to me.

I liked it but it was a bit 'more of the same'. 2/5.

4 tops.
5 fists and aotm for this one seems a bit like the way they gave Scorcese an Oscar for The Departed cos they forget to give him one for Raging Bull.

To me it was the same as the last WITTR - fine in its own right but brought nothing new to the table, just repeated what they'd done before.

Realistically I think perhaps a 4 might have been more objective. On the whole I'm inclined to agree with the 2 fist ratings, not a lot that interest's me other than the Alcest feature, and of the stuff that's in, there's not been a whole lot that's turned out to be interesting. One thing I did pick up was the Abigail Williams review sounding like the reviewer didn't know who they were. I assumed referring to them as She was a bit of a joke, but then suggesting the second album sounded like Cradle or Dimmu seemed an odd comparison to me. Forefather and Lord Vicar scores (3 and 4 respectively) seemed fair enough. As for the main bit of feminist propaganda, I'm sorry I mean main article. It wasn't bad, but felt a little bit of a tenuously linked batch of interviews that would usually fall in the latter half of the main features section.

I'm surprised at the "Meh"ness of the responses to the Alcest album and think you're all looking for something it's not.
I think it's a stunning, moody, beautiful album. It's not black metal, no, but it was never going to be. Like Falloch (but even better), it's an atmosphere piece that ticks millions of boxes for me, and I agree with the 5/5 score.

"Feminist propaganda"? Because it's several articles about bands that happen to feature women? Just talking about women means it must be "feminist" does it? I thought it was a pretty good series of articles, actually (though no mention of Flagitious Idiosyncracy In The Dilapidation = false!!) You missed the most hilarious comments from Sucide Silence, rob. One of them says "I only like old stuff... I hate everything new," and then they procede to think a track from 'Blessed Are The Sick' is Napalm Death ("this sounds like something I would never listen to") and then, best of all, 'World Eater' "sounds old. Like a crappier Nasum." What?!

 Re: Issue 219 - Feb 2012
Just wondering, because a lot of the great things on this album are very like what he's done on the other albums already. As you'll have noticed from listening to Ecailles. No?

Calm down chuck, it was just a joke aimed at the way they all seemed to be about how women are just as good as men at doing what they do, and don't feel that it matters that they're female etc. Making an issue out of something that isn't (at least to my mind) an Issue. steev wrote: robitusson wrote: Have you heard the other albums, steev? Re: Issue 219 - Feb 2012
The Abigail Williams reviewer is on the forum at sevenstring.org, he was quite vocal telling everyone about writing for them - you can abuse him here - http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/genera ... ntent.html 3rd album, 3rd change of sound, i dunno, not heard it and prob won't bother. re reviews, there are always errors, eg Chimp Spanner reviewer doesn't know there are already 2 albums out...and to be fair, Suicide Silence revealed they know nothing about DM by not getting Morbid Angel either...
