The David Vincent interview in a nutshell:

Exactly! "No one can conquer me." Bollocks. I like how the quote "Morbid Angel have run out of ideas" is next to his stupid head too.
If Morbid Angel fans unanimously hated the last album and it's doubtful that hordes of Rob Zombie fans bought it then who if anyone actually did buy it? And now there's a remix album. It's not 1996 anymore. I thought Remanufacture proved it was a shite idea. Get that gimp off the cover and put someone worthwhile on. Domination was the last cool thing he did.

I did (as has been well documented) and so did a couple of my mates. One thought it was 'not as bad as the reviews would have you think' and he's one of those 'only Blessed Are The Sick is tr00' type of fans.

The death metal songs on it are alright but it only makes the electronic shite stand out even worse. It's very patchy and I preferred David Vincent when he made dubious nazi statements to the glam cowboy he's become.

I thought it was a good album (not a great one, that honour belongs to 'Covenant'). The 'eletronic' elements didn't bother me at all, however, only things that bothered me were:

The song 'Too Extreme' seemed like an extended intro due to the overuse of the kick-drum and very little other percussion.

Radikult - Shit song. What the fuck was Vincent thinking and why didn't Trey put his foot down?

I'm thinking of getting the remix album just to hear how bad it is.

In this month's Metal Hammer our man Chantler interviews King Diamond and you get a free Ghost hat!

No seriously.

An actual hat!

Made of cardboard.

And mine kind of needs glueing, or it would if I had any intention of wearing it.

Still it makes a nice change from Iron Maiden stickers...

I still wear my free Dimmu Borgir hat if it's cold. I'm not remotely a fan or a hater, I only know a handful of new and old songs but By Jesus it's a comfy hat and I'll always be grateful to Metal Hammer. I remember years ago they gave away an In Flames condom too. If anyone from Terrorizer is reading, this is how you improve sales.

I remember when MH gave away a Machine Head wallet, it lasted quite a while too.

Tez could improve sales by A) going back to the old reviews style and cutting the needless side-bar articles in interviews.

I've still got my Dimmu Borgir hat and my keyring/Machine Head bottle opener. Still use both, too.

My 2011 and this years calendars both came from Metal Hammer too

I don't think I'll use a cardboard Ghost hat (?!) though

I'd buy Tez if they gave away a free Portal's Clockfather mask.

You don't need their advice. Make up your own mind. It's not like you can trust reviews anyway. Look at the end of year critics poll, look at the 4 and 5 rated albums and all the hype around certain bands. It's a gimmick.

A review is one person opinion. The end of year polls is, unsurprisingly, a poll, based on what all the writers liked. That's why fairly good albums that appeal to lots of people (like the most recent Trap Them) score highly while really great albums with select appeal (like lots of noise albums, for example) wouldn't do so well, despite having probably got a 5/5 review because it was reviewed by someone who did like that genre. Does that make sense? There's no conspiracy and no gimmick.

"A review is one person's opinion" should be printed in capital letters on every page of reviews to stop people whinging. "Such-and-such review is wrong", "such-and-such magazine is always wrong which is why I don't buy it" = "I don't agree with one other person's opinion of something and so I'm going to whinge about it."

Hardy ha ha. I'm not saying that because I write for T, I've never understood why people complain about reviews, ever since I read Hip Hop Connection when I was about 13 and some guy got butthurt over the Eminem album getting three stars not two or something. Some guy slightly disgrees with your opinion of a particular album, so what?

I don't complain much (at least I think so), I buy Terrorizer religiously every month and couldn't give a shite about length of reviews and sidebars and whatnot and I understand that a review is one person's opinion but you can't deny that hype, advertising and possibly bribery play a part in what's flavour of the month. Mastodon got album of the year in all rock and metal magazines. Granted it's a very good album but you know there's something else going on there.

I got ya now. It's not a bad read overall, something to pass a few hours but the free cd leaves a lot to be desired. I'm not really one for routine in every aspect of my life either. I'm pretty much a scattered bastard at the best of times.
