I'm sick of saying this, but they're clearly not shit. They're the best I've ever used, the only reason I didn't get them last time is that they didn't have them in the shop I was in and I didn't have time to search them out (I was running for a bus at the time). I'm done with repeating myself here.

Only selected copies apparently. I didn't get one. :(

Don't you find the shape of them annoying? The square cross-section shape is uncomfortable in the lughole.

I am actually impressed Tez made the decision to give out a free tape bearing in mind the vastvmajority of its target audience won't own a cassette player, but yes, this could be seen as retro cool type behaviour (see hydra head as an example)

I have said it repeatedly, but noise works really well on cassette, it is probably the best format whereas digital seems to suck the life out of the sound. Sometimes, kiddies, analog is better.

Quite the opposite, actually. They're the only ones that fit properly.

There is a big resurgence in tape lables at the moment.
Yes tape sound quality isn't that great, but I like tapes. They remind me of being a kid again. I listen to tapes often, (old and new releases) and I love it when bands and lables put some real effort into making the packaging interesting.
Disappointed I didn't get a tape with my copy.
Pleased that there are bands from all levels featured in the mag.

The white ones you get with an iPod? Really? I found they kind of cut into my ear. Unwearable nearly.

Analog is best.

Yeah, really. I'm annoyed that they don't seem to do the ordinary ones anymore, I've only seen the ones with volume control, which my iPod doesn't support.

And no, absolutely not.

Giving away a cassette with a magazine in 2012 is a sad attempt to be retro cool.

I also agree that they are a comfy fit. Better than a lot that I've used.

I think I just have big ears though. When showing a friend a track on my ipod when we were out once, she commented on my current headphones being too big to fit in.

I was very happy to get the cassette. I have no moans about the mag at all. I'd love a 20 page through the keyhole Electric Wizard spread though.

Of course. I want to know if they wear tracksuits and slippers round the house. I want to know if their marriage is in fact a sham. Reality tv doesn't focus on the people I want to see.

Honestly! I may be perceived as an out-of-touch old reactionary, but the conversation in here is like a 70s dockside boozer urinal at times. Liz makes a good cup of tea, I can vouch for that much.

Things like the Satyr IX demo were recorded to tape for tape and should only be heard on tape. The sound is actively enhanced by what the tape brings to it. The 'all formats invented before the 80s are shit' brigade sound oddly defensive, like they know they're missing out on a level of joy and connection that white earphones and party shuffles cannot provide.

Genuinely if I still owned a cassette player I'd happily play it (the EW cassette from Tez). I am totally confused with the direction of Tez and this encompasses it for me. They seem to have been leaning towards a "younger" audience in recent years yet the chances of any self-respecting teenager owning a tape deck is surely somewhere between slim and zero?
