Fucking shit-the-bed fantastic Electric Wizard cassette free with certain copies. First free Tegs tape since 1994! Nice feature too, though the Wizard house, decor and collections could fill a coffee table book.

They live a few miles from where I used to live in Devon near Honiton. If only I knew. I love the tape.

Cassettes are for people trying to be retro cool but not doing it right.

I just got my copy with a cassette (the only thing really of interest apart from the Electric Wizard article) - got another reminder of how out of the mags target audience I am though when a poster of Joey fucking Jordisson exploded from the centre spread.

Cassettes and posters of Joey Jordison? I'm not buying Tez #228.

I'd like the EP very much* but fuck tapes, obviously. Flush them down time's toilet along with vinyl.

*The 2 tracks on the 7" were pretty poor but the other ones should be good.

I was tempted to buy it today, until I slid the disc up and saw there was literally noting of interest listed on the cover.

Conversely I enjoyed the issue more than I have a lot of the recent ones, partly because it features some bands I actually like for once rather than the usual Euro-festival-filler schlock rock, and partly because the features and the lead reviews seem slowly but surely to be upping the word count...

Nice to see Benj getting a good long while to nail why Converge are feted the way they are without descending into hype.

I'm prepared to be proven wrong but I would wager not only that this isn't the first time a Slipknot poster has appeared within the magazine, but that the first time was ages and ages ago, possibly even pre-21st century, and that therefore it's a bit late in the day to moan about it now. Stable door, horse bolted.

Haven't listened to the tape yet, but it's a nice little artifact in any case.

Cassettes are for people who own fucking cassette players, ie not the pitiful dicktards who threw theirs away even though they'd still be working today if they hadn't.

Yeah, consign any format you can touch to oblivion, neat idea. Let all music be accessible solely via QPR codes, that's shitting progress.

Shit sound quality, prone to snapping and incredibly irritating track location method. Stop trying to look cool, it isn't working.

Trying to look cool!! You've sure got my number. Check me out, I use machines that still work.

Do you have a gramophone too?

Post subject:  Re: 228

Alas no. Would there be anything wrong with that? Using machines made over 10 years ago, eh, lol.

NB: I've had maybe four tapes snap in my whole life, ie four out of at least a thousand.

I had a vast tape collection in the 80's but there is no way I'd give them the time of day today. The sound quality is appalling.

No, CDs are fine. There is no reason for vinyl or cassettes to exist anymore. As for throwing away machines that still work, I've been using the same hi-fi for 20+ years, thanks. Tellingly, both tape decks gave out well over a decade ago (not that they'd be used, in any event), the CD player is temperamental (to say the least) and only the radio and turntable work properly. Obviously, neither is ever used, but it makes a good amp.

It says a lot about Chantler that Sol and Termoid are making him look like a daft bastard.

You're scarcely a reliable witness, let's be honest. I (and many others) continue to use and enjoy formats that society at large has abandoned, haha what a daft bastard. Of course I also use and enjoy CD and mp3 - each format has its own pros and cons and distinctive experiences, and it's clear which foster more attractive personality traits. The spurious aggressive way some people react against tape and vinyl suggests they know how hollow and bereft their lives and personalities are without them.

Nah, it's just that we're not settling for vastly inferior sound reproduction quality.

Again?

No, I never said that. What I did say is that they're fine, they do the required job perfectly well and that there's no need to spend laughable amounts of money on ear/headphones.
