You were going to find me a link as I couldn't find one. Same for Elvencunts, too.

Also: Baroness at #2? LOL.

As I've said before, it's the way the poll works - everyone votes for their favourite 20, with 20 points being awarded to #1, 19 to #2 and so on - so albums that do well will be albums that a lot of people like a fair bit, even if no-one actually loved them. I don't reckon anyone will have put the Converge album as their personal #1. See also consistently high showings for bands like Enslaved, Napalm Death, Neurosis etc., even with albums that aren't necessarily their greatest - they're still good and everyone likes them so they do well.

Oh yeah, I get that. I'm just amazed that it still got a high placing as it's so... beige.

I enjoyed the Jess And The Ancient Ones album, and although it initially sounds like Blood Ceremony knock-off Proto Metal it's actually much poppier than that. 4 fists, and worth a listen for Steev at least.

Am I right in thinking that the band mainman is the guy from Demilich?

Not a fucking clue - I reviewed them for Marksson's website and enjoyed it, but don't know anything about them. When I first read that I thought you were asking if Jess did the vocals for Demilich, which would have been brilliant.

Steev - Sorry, I couldn't find them and then forgot. I'll try to do you a CDR of Elvenstorm and Blaze at some point.

I have 22 of those albums surprisingly.
I really don't get the hype over Converge, Baroness or Torche.
The Winterfylleth album was a big disappointment for me, I'm sure they're recycling riffs and parts from their earlier albums.
And where the hell are Sigh?! I notice they didn't make the Metal Hammer list either...

Apparently so! Corpse from (latter day) Demilich is on axe for J&TAO. Which makes me suddenly interested in them.

I don't think you'd like them, Rob, but worth a go. It takes the basic set-up of someone like Blood Ceremony, cleans it up and introduces a big dollop of Pop Metal.

It was on quietly and I was working when I had my first spin earlier (Bobble was asleep in the room above) and it seemed nice enough, but didn't really listen properly enough to have an opinion yet, but seemed decent, yes. Will need to listen more/properly.

Well, I love Blood Ceremony and retro pop metal like Ghost and am deeply appreciative, whilst not a lover of Demelich - so I have to hear it.

I know you're right, but the older I get the more I'm starting to think that it's actually a really good idea. It's worrying.

You'll be checking out the new Black Veil Brides next, PK. That's pure pop metal.

Steev is only a year or so older than you, you have that long until you become him.

I have 12 of those, it's a totally predictable list but it's not bad at all.

Hopefully you'll grow out of it, either that or join Steev in Pop(Gay) Metal heaven.

Let's face it, I'm not that far away from it now. So far my only saving grace is that I still hate shit knuckle-dragging Mong Metal, so the Poppier versions of it leave me equally cold - otherwise I think I'd be at Five Finger Death Punch like Shallow on a misplaced comma.

Converge (4/5), Baroness (5/5), Pig Destroyer (4/5), Neurosis (3/5 provisionally), Devin (3/5), Swans (4/5 provisionally), Napalm Death (3/5), Torche (3/5), Killing Joke (4/5), High On Fire (4/5 maybe, possibly), Meshuggah (3/5), Unsane (4/5).

I haven't heard Ufomammut, JK Flesh or Anaal Nathrakh yet, probably should do.
