Post Comics (we don't need to call em graphic novels)
Had a search and couldn't find a Comics thread on this here new forum and didn't want to clog up the now reading thread (also don't want to trawl through pages of other peoples literary lists.

Currently reading DV8 - Gods and Monsters - quite a good little story about power and responsibility.
IZombie- great brain eating Zombie grave digging chick who doubles as a sleuth with her ghost and werewolf mates. It works on paper. Honest!
American Vampire - set in two eras one scribed by Steven King - good fanged cowboy fun.

Return of Bruce Wayne - silly through history romp.

Walking Dead is still my number one . Also getting into CHew and Out of the Woods.

What you guys reading comic wise?

I haven't read any new comics in ages. I haven't given up on the medium, I just find it nearly impossible to justify buying them these days.

Check out Chew Rich.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chew_(comics)

Guy who gets psychic impressions from what he eats. Funny and well written. Some good social comment in there too.

Ta. Any more recommendations for funny stuff? I haven't bought or downloaded a comic (aside from Logicomix which just isn't the same) in over a year.

Yeah, 30 odd years in the future, America is carved into territories ruled by various supervillains. Logan's renounced violence and is trying to support his family on a dustbowl farm and pay rent to the Hulk gang. A money making opportunity comes along and fucked up shit happens. 8 issue run, framed like a movie. Best thing I've read since Arkham Asylum, probably.

Haven't read Logan but it sounds dope. I'm still re-reading old Infinity Gauntlet comics. I just don't want to grow up.

I'm actually listening to this right now, and thought the lyrics might interest you if you didn't know them already:

Bal-Sagoth - Scourge of The Fourth Celestial Host
[UATU:]
They possess power unparalleled...
ageless, remorseless. Without pity or conscience.
Manipulators of evolution on countless worlds.
Gods of the stars... the Celestial Host!

[NORRIN-RADD:]
Zenn-la! (My homeworld, denied me by the whims of Galan of Taa!
I vow that another world shall not be taken from me while I live!)
I beseech thee, great ones... spare this insignificant planet... this earth.

[THE LIVING TRIBUNAL:]
Humankind, behold your creators... behold your destroyers.
Arishem, Exitar... Judge and executioner!

[UATU:]
They who sow the fields of the stars...
They return to reap the evolution harvest.
Arishem, Exitar... Judge and executioner!

[THE INFINITY WATCH:]
Time, space, soul, mind, reality, power...

[NORRIN-RADD:]
I am the last scion of Zenn-La,
Never more to embrace Shalla-Bal.
I was born to soar beyond the stars...

[UATU:]
And lo, the Exterminator,
the Destroyer of Worlds,
the Purifier of Galaxies...

[NORRIN-RADD:]
The edge of oblivion beckons...
(the blood of countless billions stains these silvern hands...
but I must... I will endure!)
I am the protector of this world! I wield the Power Cosmic!
(Behold, from the Realm Eternal my ally speeds to lend his might
and the power of his Uru hammer to the fray!)
Arishem, Exitar... Judge and executioner.
I shall scatter your atoms to the four cosmic winds!

[THE INFINITY WATCH:]
Time, space, soul, mind, reality, power.
Hail Arishem! Hail Exitar!
The Star-Gods have returned!

[NORRIN-RADD:]
The vast sea of stars stretches into infinity before me...
I am the last scion of Zenn-la, Never more to embrace Shalla-Bal,
I was born to soar beyond the stars.

Do you have the whole series Richi?

I remember being so angry when Thanos turned Thor into glass. Fuck, that's gotta suck.

I've never read any comics apart from Simon Furman's Transformers and Death's Head strips, and 'Preacher'.

If you like Preacher check out The Boys by Garth Ennis. Very very good!

The Boys is good, but I'd be wary of loading Clint down with too much Garth Ennis in one go - there are too many similarities in his work. If you're really interested in reading more, Clint, I'd probably play it safe and advise you to check out Watchmen or Sandman next. Maybe Talbot's Adventures of Luther Arkwright if you want something a bit more kvlt.

Didn't you like it then - well obviously not! I must admit I haven't re-read it but some of it was kinda fun. A bit sloppy compared with Kirkman's other work but that is the whole point. reminded me of the sort of stuff that appeared in Deadline years ago. Even a little Tank GIrl esque - TG was ok in small doses.

Have you tried Fallen richie? Worth getting from the library.

I haven't even heard of Fallen. I'm a bit out of the comic loop these days.
