I was flicking through my old Asterix books at my parent's house the other day, sadly they are succumbing to mould.

I absolutely loved the films when I was a child, they were the first ones my father took us to see at the cinema - I still like to watch them, but in German. I can't get used to them in English. Never seen the new ones or the real-life ones, wouldn't want to either.

I love the fact that I can bump a thread from three years ago here and the conversation just takes up again.

I read a bunch of these when I was kid.

I can't remember which ones or anything.

I introduced my kids to it. So they are reading the books I had as a kid now. What is the general opinion on TINTIN?

Hated Tintin. Gimpy little fucker.

Loved Asterix. Loved the names of all the characters, and the way there was at least a slight grain of historical reference to the stories.

No Cleopatra? That one would definitely have to be in my top 5. I'd have to think very carefully what else would be in there.

Love Asterix, still read the cartoons even today. When I was younger I used to have some of the stories narrated on tape by Willie Rushton, who was brilliant.
