Post Re: Android Phone User Thread
I've also been using facebook on the browser for about 6 months now. Basically the app was pretty big data-wise, and I couldn't transfer it to my SD card, and my phone has pretty shocking internal memory, so I figured I may as well get rid of it given I can access it from elsewhere and my phone subsequently runs a lot smoother and doesn't lag as much.

My Samsung Galaxy Ace has 158 MB storage, 278 MB RAM, which never leaves much room, and I'm taken to understanding it's not great. Certainly when you google the phone name followed by poor memory a lot of results come up with people complaining about it.

Agreed again, Was. Galaxy SIII has 16GB on-board memory, with expansion slot for up to 128GB Micro SDHC card. Has something like 800mhz RAM as well, which is decent for a phone.

I imagine the S4 will piss all over that. I want one.

All I want to do is post pics of my cat on fb easier, other than that the phone works fine, so no need for better one.

The SIII was plasticky and flimsy and a bit tacky, and the UI looked like it was designed by children for children. Unless they can re-design the fuck out the fuck-ugly thing, all the specifications in the world won't make it nice to use. I can't see the S4 being any different.

MY HTC One X+ has 64GB internal memory. I've mostly filled it with porn.

Basically correct. HTC phones are shit. I had one, it was shit.
Samsung phones are not shit, hence them selling 30% of ALL mobile phones last year.

Samsung phones are wank and are bought by the easily pleased. I had an SIII for a week, hated it, and sent it back to be replaced by the much superior One X+.

Has anyone else played with Sleep As Android? I don't actually need the main thing it is for as I sleep perfectly well as it is, but the function to record the noises you make as you sleep is kind of fun.

100% this on my Blackberry. FB and Twitter both work fine through the apps without any problems or delays.

I'm looking for a cheap-ish (in the £300 region) android phone on pay as you go, i've been considering these:
The Xperia S
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-XPERIA-Fre ... escription
Or the SIII Mini
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Galaxy- ... alaxy+mini
or would it be worth paying a bit more for a Galaxy III?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Galaxy- ... =galaxy+s3
Or can anyone suggest any others?

Does it have to be bought on Amazon? You can buy brand new, sealed mobiles from eBay for a lot less. SIII's are roughly £250 now.

I don't have an ebay account and I can't do paypal because I use a relatives credit card to buy online.

Do you live in the dark ages? Why not buy online using your own bank accounts?
Either way, there must be a comparison site somewhere that has them for sale cheaper.

I'm disabled and don't work, so i'd have no chance of getting a credit card.

Have you tried Friendcaster? It's effectively a better version of the Facebook app made by a different developer, and it is much stronger and more flexible when it comes to uploading images. Read about what it is and does here. I'm especially keen on the fact that it allows you to select which of your existing Facebook galleries to upload your new picture to, rather than giving you no choice but dumping them in an artificially-created "Mobile Photos" folder. You can also make it black </predictable>
