Oh and the eBay app of course. Already invaluable.

Non iphone users, especially HTC owners - what's your battery life like? I have the HTC Sensation which has a huge HD screen, the battery only lasts a day if I barely use it. Usually it's in the yellow in about 8 hours. Have been looking online and the standard HTC 1730mAh battery that HTC supplied them with seems to be inadequate to the job.

Amazon have two other batteries for sale a 1930mAh which surely can't make much extra difference? There's also this one, which looks, I don't know, a bit dodgy:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ecell-2430MAH-B ... roduct_top

It has mostly good reviews but there are only 19 altogether. Any thoughts?

All those apps Xes mentioned, yes. ESPN goals is a good app too, Xes. Premiership goals at half time and directly after the games!

The Sky Go app is great! SkyOne, Living, Atlantic, Arts, Sky Sports News and all the sport and movies channels ( if you have them on your home package ).

My friend at work tried to download it at the weekend, unsuccesfully. What OS are you using? He has the Galaxy nexus, which is on Ice cream Sandwich, so a lot of apps / programmes are yet to be converted for it yet.

The Ice Cream Sandwich update comes next month for my phone, but I may hold off on it for a while until all the apps I use are updated for it.

Where do you get Sky Go from as it isn't in the Android Marketplace at all... is there a link on the Sky site? I have all the Sky channels in my package.

Aldiko, Where's My Droid?, Shazam, SWF Player, Terminal Emulator, Ringdroid, MoboPlayer, Memory Booster Lite, Flashlight, Ultrachron Stopwatch, Last.fm, and Hotmail. That's all I've got.

To be honest, Where's My Droid has never been used on my phone. And I haven't even opened the app. I downloaded it, and forgot about it. But that Memory Booster Lite is the shit.

True, unfortunately. Shite compared to my Cowon D2.

Also, Steev, I can recommend iPhones, HTC Sensation XE (with beats audio) and Samsung Galaxy SII's as all having comparable audio to the iPod that you have

Having spent a week using my HTC Desire HD as a music player, I can confirm that my D2 utterly destroys it in terms of both sound quality and volume. This, folks, is why having a separate audio device is still necessary.

How good is touchscreen for typing - emails and texts, for example - in comparison to a keyboard. I really like the fact the Blackberry still has an external keyboard, and would imagine typing on touchscreen to be a bit awkward, double pressing of keys, that kinda thing?

You get used to it pretty quickly. My previous phone, the HTC HD2 had the letters jammed together with no spacing, and often resulted in jumbled texts.
My current Samsung is really easy to type with.

Mine obviously depends on what I'm doing, but if I use internet and other stuff a lot it does cane the battery within a day, but then I also find it charges pretty quick.

I've hardly used my phone this month though, as I can't afford the bill so can't dial out, so the battery has lasted for ages as it's basically a glorified mp3 player at the minute...

Typing on a touch screen is a piece of piss, although it feels weird adjusting to using your thumbs at first. I deliberately avoided a physical keyboard when choosing a smart phone - it's just a shitload of unnecessary moving parts to go wrong.

Bollocks, cunting arse. Will necro this thread in September which is when I'm actually allowed the upgrade. Sneaky, hadn't realized it was a 24 rather than 18 month contract.

They are all 24 month contracts now, otherwise you'd still be paying 90's prices for contracts.

I'm still paying a normal something for my phone. Got it unlocked, I think.

And I hate the touchscreen keyboard, at times.

Remember when you had to have a top-of-the-range PC to play Doom properly?

Bloody hell.
