Punctuate. Is the " ' " before or after the "s"? Make your choice.

I'd also put a comma after "music".

And capitilize the 's' in Son.

Because when addressing a person you capitalize the first letter.

Example:

That person over there is my son.

"Come over here, Son."

No. You capitalise the first letter if the word is a proper noun. "Son" is not a proper noun. Sorry.

It's a proper noun when you use it as one. In the first example it's not being used as a word of addressing. In the second, it is. In any situation, you address someone, it is a "proper noun" ANY word being used this way becomes this and thus needs to be capitalized. You call someone a "Running" the word "Running" gets a new meaning. It is no longer a verb, it is a noun because whatever collaboration of letters you are using it becomes a 'name' thus it is what you are referring to as a 'proper noun'.

"Come over here, Running!"

Sorry, Shallowthing, but you are completely wrong.

I may be drunk right now but I know I'm right on this one. You refer to a person by any word, whatever it is, you capitalize the first letter!!!!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

Green Man is making up new rules of grammar to cover up his mistake, now.

The explanation is kind of funny, but it's still totally fatuous. Sorry, Green.

I know German has some pretty wacky rules regarding the capitalisation of common nouns, but guess what? We're not speaking German...

That said, Canadian English possibly has slightly different grammatical rules to British English.

I am sceptical that they might be that different. I would be willing to change my mind if Green can provide verification of that from a recognised scholarly source though.

So I did. I shall have to have words with my phone's autocorrect function.

Twelve years of school before the Internet. Sure, I could Google just as well as anybody to try to find your proof, Shallow, but I don't understand why this is so hard for you to understand.

Did you notice how I didn't refer to you as 'shallow'? That's because once I use the word 'shallow' as a name to address you, it becomes 'Shallow'.

Also notice the commas. When addressing someone, you place a comma before (and after if applicable) the term you use to address them.

I hate to get into one of these grammar arguments. But I'm sticking with 'Son' over 'son' when used in a sentence: "You don't understand what you're talking about, Son." If you have some scholarly source otherwise, then feel free to produce it.
