Just put the other bracket in on the link, Cunter. It didn't add itself on to the link address link for some reason (Jooz no doubt). I thought Errol Morris was pretty well known as a documentary maker (see thread title). He's the Morris I meant.

Was gonna torrent a whole wodge of Adam Curtis things, but it's one where they want you to burn it onto a DVD and I lack the capacity for that. Arse.

"The Secret Life of Waves" for some jaw dropping science tied to philosophy, followed by that Horizon "Rogue Waves" one for jaw dropping "woaahhhh EPIC dude" times. Apparently I'm really interested in fluid dynamics.

Nice one Mothra, good to see we've got another Jonathan Meades fan on here. I've got the DVD collection but it's only 15 of his (at that time) 50 or so films the Victoria and Surrealism ones aren't on it sadly. tvSSFBM EHKL a was fantastic.

Meades rules, he is to documentaries what Chris Morris is to comedy.

Quote:
World’s Largest Vinyl Collection
The Archive Documentary

In 2009, Sean Dunne made a mini-documentary about Paul Mawhinney, the Pittsburgh, PA resident who has the world’s largest vinyl record collection, entitled The Archive. It’s amazing to see how this human has amassed so many records, but at the same time it’s a very depressing tale. I won’t give the whole story away, but I will say that as much as technology has given to this world, it is also taking things away that we will never be able to get back.

No mention of this?

And has Painkiller (or anyone else) ever seen Bamber Gascoigne's The Christians? I went unexpectedly mad for it, watched the first episode three times before moving onto the second.

After the David Attenborough boxset I got one Christmas has been sitting shamefully unwatched, I've started working my way through it. Life On Earth is completely brilliant, I've been watching Attenborough programmes since before I could talk but every episode still has a good five or six things that make me go "wow!" Onto The Living Planet now, which is quite different but still great. They don't make 'em like that any more. Stuff like Life is just computer wallpaper in comparison; all pretty pictures, telling you nothing.

Diabetes is manageable. Sorry if I offend any diabetics but it's just that most people I know talk about it like it's an AIDS epidemic while they eat their sugary shit and down pints of piss. Any diabetic I've ever met has treated like any affliction where you just manage your lifestyle a bit better.

Apparently this is part of a series. I like Jon Ronson, this is an interesting watch. It's more about a group protesting against Icke than what Icke actually believes (or not, as the case may be). Warning: this contains some of the most punchable people you're likely to see in a documentary, although Icke himself seems like a pretty nice, polite guy.

'Them' is great, as is the book. The Bohemian Grove episode in particular is fantastic. Can't remember if he was in the series, but Ian Paisley comes across as the most unpleasant character in the book by far, and when you consider some of the other people he interviews (Omar Bakri, KKK members, etc.), that's fucking saying something.

Good watch. Thanks for that, Ed. I didn't follow how Icke made the transition from God speaking in his head and being the son of God to taking on the role of uncovering the lizard men. Is he consciously anti-Semitic? No. But he is acting as a conduit for the old 19th century, elders of Zion type view of Jewish power, definitely. Still, I'd rather be stuck in a lift with him than the smug protestors - who fucking missed with the pie! Morons.

It's amazing how they make themselves look like a sort of shadowy secret group, too, and seem not to realise how ironic and hilarious that is.

I would have liked to see Icke acknowledge the fact he makes tons of money out of his books and tours, instead of just saying "oh it's a tough old job but I have to do it, I have to uncover the truth." I think he really does believe that, but quite nice for him that this Herculean task he's been assigned also makes him lots of moolah.

Telling Richard Littlejohn "if you had a brain-cell it would die of loneliness" makes up for an awful lot of sins.
