Post Random Acts of Senseless Kindness
This forum is well-known for its cynicism and negativity, with good reason. However, as you're all ostensibly less horrible people in real life, this thread is for you all to tell us what polite, nice or otherwise good things you have done for someone else over the course of your day.

Outside the Decapitated/Aborted gig this evening, I prevented three short-haired chancers from stealing the beer stash belonging to two metallers and a cute girl, using only two words and a gentle motion of my head. Afterwards, the shorthairs told me I am a "good guy", the metallers said thank you and shook my hand, and it was all very civil.

So: What nice things have you done for others recently? It can be anything as small as holding a door open for an old lady, or something as big as donating a spare organ.

I gave my last 50p to a long bearded drunk man out side the Eurobar in George Street, Oxford, because he asked if I had one to spare.

Post Re: The Good Deed For the Day Thread
Tues and Weds I spent around 11 hours of my day helping people, mainly kids with learning disabilities.

I was being paid for it, but it was still jolly nice of me. Specifically I helped a downy kid calm down and listened to him after he had been picked on and got upset to the point where he was throwing chairs around a room breaking things.

We had to do a day's placement in a special needs school. That was "easy" in that you didn't really do anything, although I spent quite a lot of time holding the hands of a 9 year old autistic girl who would otherwise repeatedly punch herself in the face. In the afternoon I played with a 16 year old with a mental age of 2ish, that was totally knackering.

Really, really draining as the kid's were really profoundly disabled and often didn't react to anything. Mercifully I was spared the compulsive masturbation that my Muslim colleague was subjected to.

Teenagers with typical teenagers urges but with the mental age and social awareness of babies or toddlers = public wank city + constant groping of female staff.

Insert traumatised smiley here.

I've only done two days there, but I'm going to try to get more work at that school. I found it really interesting as some of the kids were only marginally more retarded than some of the low ability kids I taught before. Autistic kids, etc are fascinating. Some of the poetry they'd written, etc, was really good.

I also hadn't realised kids with learning disabilities do actually go "uuuueergh, uuuueergh" all the time. You know, that noise you make when you put your tongue behind your bottom lip and make a spastic noise. This college is pretty chilled though, and the kids seem really cool.

I bought the missus some Lindt chocolate just because I felt like it, and got rid of a spider for her even though it was really one of the tiniest spiders I've ever seen.

Then we had a fight anyway.

I helped my new neighbour carry some furniture. And I didn't kill anyone this week, which was good of me I thought.

I went to Leeds to visit a housing co-op and spent a couple of hours going through cash flow forecast spreadsheets, looking at different scenarios. They need to get an extra rent coming in and apply for a loan with Radical Routes in 2014, then all will be almost honky dory.
In exchange they fed me nice food and gave me a hug. Post-capitalist bartering can work nicely in parallel with normal modern economic systems.

I don't think you even need to post in this thread, we all know you just wander around doing good deeds and planting trees.

Bloody hippy.

Obviously you've just received some good karma for phrasing it like this, PK.

Zag may be referring to where the kid came from. We're surrounded by The Downs down here (not in a Day Of The Dead kind of way).
