I'm finding it impossible to make this not sound sarcastic, but I mean it - I respect you enormously for doing this.

Thank you, especially as I know you're not keen on arachnids.

The spider in question is a Mexican Red-kneed Tarantula named Hilary. Her current owner is a vegetarian who can no longer cope with the guilt of having a pet with hunts down and devours live prey, so she wanted to pass it on. I've linked her up with an arachnophile friend of mine up in Leeds, and we've roped in a third friend who can borrow her mother's car to drive up there. I had initially considered taking Hilary on the National Express with me...

Good work on Cromwell's part for rescuing that sea gull. People are horrible twats.

Two days ago I was walking home along Brighton (Hove actually) sea front and I saw four teenage foreign students essentially teasing a baby sea gull. Said sea gull was wedged under a bench, terrified, whilst they went up to it, took photos and ran away squealing when it squawked at them in fear.

After watching them for a while I felt very unhappy about the distress they were causing this baby bird, so I went up to them and told them very bluntly that what they were doing was cruel, the poor bird was terrified, and that they should stop it as it "wasn't cool".

I was expecting the two lads in the scenario to square up to me and tell me to piss off, but they backed down immediately and walked away a short distance. I was shaking as I left and still was when I got home as I'd got ready for confrontation of some sort.

Looking back, they might have been a bit alarmed by a drunk 6'2" tattooed bloke walking up to them to tell them to leave a baby sea gull alone and that their actions "weren't cool". (I said that twice, I think...)

Still, my good deed for the week...

Years ago I rescued a hedgehog that a pair of cunts were playing football with. I chased the youths off and scooped it up in my jacket and took it home - I found a cardboard box big enough for it, covered it in torn newspaper and put some dog food in the corner of the box for it. I was awaken in the early hours of the following morning by the sound of something scraping along the skirting board in the next room. The little bugger had tipped the box and escaped. He seemed to be getting about okay so I took him outside to the garden and released him.

If I was wearing a hat i would "doft" it in your general direction Cromwell. Impressive stuff from Shallow too.

I saved a spider today, I turned on the shower and it sort of jumped out of the plughole, scuttling around only just avoiding the water, poor thing. It was about as big as my thumbnail I guess. I picked it up on my fingers - a long while since I've done that, they tickle don't they? - and put it out of the window. I don't know I didn't see it before I turned the shower on.

I used to find slugs inside my pet rabbit's pen and hutch as a child, I used to throw the cunts into oblivion. I am generally nicer to them now.

I feed them to my hedgehog. They have no purpose in life really. Is there a more pathetic prey? They can't even attempt to get away from predators.

I am so glad to have found this thread. You lot are surprisingly nice people...

Shallow and Crom in particular.

Not you Morf.

I don't share a bed with it or anything. He/she appears every now and then and I feed it cat food and watch it eat slugs that haven't a hope of escaping.
I'd no idea they were any more filthy than the average wild creature.

Hedgehogs are awesome, and as long as you're not actually bumming it, having one in your garden is unlikely to give you leukemia.

A hedgehog I spied whilst walking home from the pub a couple of years ago. In retrospect, the flash probably scared the shit out of it, and so was a bad idea.
