Post Re: Sports Thread
So, any world cup predictions? Will we get the usual guff that its Spain/Portugal's year, only for it to be won by Brazil or Germany?

As long as its not France *spits* I don't really mind.

The one upside to not having any full time work is I get to watch a lot of it.

England's group is not bad though, although the U.S. could very well cause an upset or two in the competition.

Blackpool promoted. Means we're going to get Ian Iscariot's gurning mug on Match of the Day every week next year. Although if they defend like they did today they'll be back down fairly quickly.

I like Holloway. Speaks his mind, has a sense of humour and not only has to cope with all the stress inherent with being a football manager but has three children, all of whom are profoundly deaf.

They cost a mate of mine a grand last time with their win over Italy.

Post Re: Sports Thread
Inter pretty much deserved their win tonight. They let Bayern have the ball for the majority of the game knowing they had to break down one of the best european defences in recent years. I couldn't ever see it happening an neither could Inter. And by the last twenty minutes neither could Bayern.
If Ribery had been playing then who knows, but tonight Robben, Van Buyten, Van Bommel, Altintop and Schweinsteiger tried everything they could but to no avail and Olic and Klose barely got a sniff. In fact, the only downside to Inter's win was Pandev's constant diving. Also very strange to see Sulley Muntari picking up the Champions League Trophy for Inter when he was at Portsmouth just a couple of seasons ago.
Looks like Mourinho has found his new home at the Santiago Bernabéu aswell.

Webbwatch: Surprisingly a decent game for the visually challenged cretin. He only missed a handball in the area by Maicon and bottled out of booking Pandev because he didn't know which of two Inter players had committed a foul.
Good advantage played for the 2nd goal too.
4 Fists.

Its not the end of the world, but it was a little galling, so I think were perfectly justified in wanting to see a little karmic justice.

France won't do a damn thing at the World Cup. Domenech's a terrible manager who already knows he's out of a job after the World Cup so his already awful tactics are going to have that added flavour of indifference to the result. A France v Argentina quarter final (or even second round match if one of them messes their group up enough) could be the silliest game you'll ever see.

Realistically speaking it's going to be Spain or Brazil. Spain have most of the best midfielders in the tournament and an easy group, whereas Brazil have Dunga's tedious but effective two holding player system which will shut down good teams and overrun weaker ones. England will get 9 points from their group before bottling the quarter final.

It wasn't particularly aimed at you. The furore around the whole think + the FAI were terribly, terribly embarrassing to me as an Irish person. I actually laughed when it happened (Henry's handball that is).

Sadly the FAI are always terribly embarrassing.

after the first day I'm inclined to agree. England will knock up 500+, put in bangladesh who'll have a poor first innings and have to follow-on and it'll be over by sunday.

No, laughing at someone elses misfortune is ok, only when it happens to you does it suddenly become unfunny.

he as cheated cancer and he is a bully i agree ,as for cycling i agree doping as been widespread in the past but now i belive it is on the way out.The culture is changing plus anti doping is very advanced,That is one of the reasons British cycling as took a interest in Pro cycling at last.
