I want to change the (still tentative) date for the Beerfest meet to Weds 4th of August.I realise it's mid-week but the earlie rwe go the more beers there'll be and less people, so less time waiting to be served.

Summer Holiday, I don't really care which day it is.

Are people actually going to this? I'd like to preorder a ticket, but I don't want you all Penishandsing out of it.

Yeah, quite tempted to give it a go actually. Each month there is a different area too.

I'd be fucking wankered by the end of the day though.

I would not want to be the driver. I bet they have to mop out the bus quite regularly.

Todays Beer:
ImageImageImage
OLD TOM 8.5% ABV
A famous winter warmer and that rarity an 'old ale' on draught, it has been brewed continuously since 1899 to produce a flavour richly redolent of the malted barley, 'winey' colour and no less than 8.5% alcohol.

Ingredients
Halycon and Pipkin pale malts, crystal malt, small percentage of flaked maize and torrified wheat, caramel for colour adjustment. Goldings whole hops and small percentage of Northdown; dry hopped in cask with Goldings pellets.
Notes
Heady, vinous aromas of dark fruit.
Palate
Booming balance of ripe malt and peppery hops; deep port wine finish with bitter hops balance.
Comment
Dark, rich and warming superior strong ale

Last night I had Old Dark Smooth and Brain's Black (lolracismlol) by the Brain's Brewery, both were pretty unspectacular. Regular Old Dak is great. We also drank in "the cheapest pub in the valleys" which I guess would make it a strong contender for cheapest pub in the UK. Vodka 90p a shot.

As it is arranged by Camra, I imagine there are mostly people who are REALLY SERIOUS about ALE. And as a result only drink "to taste" at each pub.

If you get drunk around those Camra guys you are FALSE to them.

They're going to hate me if we do this board-meet, then. I hardly drink these days, 4 pints of something halfway strong and I'll be on the tables singing Hail And Kill into my glass.

I live within spitting distance of Pendle Hill and Moorhouses is common round these parts. It is the regular brew in the Trades Club.

On a side line, the name Pendle Hill means hill hill hill. I can't remember which old languages they are, but Pen means hill, then some invaders came along and called in Pen Dul - which means Pen Hill, or hill hill. You can see where this is going........

9 days and counting without beer....

Ha! Precisely the reason why this board meet is tempting! I can imagine you having a go at us if one of us gets a word of the lyrics wrong too.

You'd better start revising now.
