That is so bad that I thought Hunnam was a Yank.

Hunnam's American accent is better than his actual one.

American born French man Christopher Lambert playing a Scotsman with the shittest accent ever, listen to the "Heather please" bit at 58 seconds.

And Shcottish Sean playing I think a Spaniard, but with a Sean Connery accent.

Doesn't get better than that.

Alan Rickman in Die Hard is brilliant.

Wasn't he supposed to be Egyptian, or did I make that up?

Yep. Sean Connery's character in Highlander was supposed to be Egyptian. Also, his accent in both 'Red October' and 'The Untouchables' wasn't too good...

I would also like to add Winona Ryder for her performance in 'Dracula' as well as Kevin Costner in 'Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves'. Maybe even Richard Gere in 'The Jackyl'.

Costner just spoke in his normal voice for Robin Hood because he'd realised it was a waste of time trying to sound English.

Ray Winstone in 'The Departed'; he sounded like he was gargling a mouthful of live mice.

Cockneys being coached by Americans in how to speak cockney.
Is there anywhere in the universe that makes even the slightest sense?

I watched the first minute and laughed uproariously. What the fuck is this?! It's like a modern comedy sketch of what you'd think shitty films of the '50s were like. Everything about it - the accents, the acting, the dialogue, the camerawork even - is stilted. Amazing. Why do you hate it so much - are you made to watch it every Christmas in Ireland, or something?

Sean Connery doesn't really count, because of course he can't do accents. He can't do anything except be Sean Connery. But to be fair, if you had his voice, would you try to sound like other people?

Another example people always say is Don Cheadle in Ocean's 11. I've never seen the films all the way through, but on the basis of the below, it's certainly up there. This also includes Anne Hathway in One Day - see if you can guess where she's supposed to be from (Yorkshire is my guess).

Not sure why Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving are in there, I think they do alright, as does the guy in the last clip, whatever that is.

That's Marlon Brandow, isn't it?

The guy in the clip they are moving a corpse has an astounding accent, sounds like he's trying to do an Irish accent.

Fuck no, I haven't come across it for decades, thankfully. Disney wanted to make a film based on Irish mythology, so of course they went to an American author's work, which was about as accurate as Michael Fish's forecasts. They even dubbed out the Irish actors' dialogue and replaced it with diddly-aye yank aproximations. Yer man the leprechaun king has the only actual Irish accent in the piece of shit, if memory serves - and even that is a bit put on (he was actually a Dub). it's so condescending, the typical backward paddies falling over themselves. Like The Quiet Man, utterly deplorable.

Wasn't Leonardo DiCaprio trying to do an Irish-ish accent in Gangs of New York?
His attempt at Rhodesian in Blood Diamond is really funny.

Also...

I never understood that, is he not supposed to be Irish American, rather than Irish? Why would he even have an "Irish" accent? Also, he says 'Boyo'.

See also, those cunts in 'Boondock Saints' or whatever its called. Although I'm just presuming they were Irish - American, as I couldn't get past the first 15 - 20 minutes of their bullshit movie.

I forgot Billy Connolly in The Last Samurai. Fucking hell.

Also, the 3 brothers in The Proposition. Danny Huston's was alright (he was raised for a time just a 20 min. drive from here) but for brothers, not one of them had a similar accent to either of the others.

Kelly MacDonald in Intermission & Boardwalk Empire - frankly, she sounds severely mentally impaired in the latter.

This has to be the one to beat. That or Tom Cruise.

Good thread - I never understood why the fuck these supposedly talented and definitely trained actors with access to shit loads of resources cant just nail it.
