Ok - sorry, I thought it was a comedy thread. I'll stick to Radio 4 and the Guardian when I want seriousness personally.

I don't know what seasons of Family Guy I've seen. I just watch it on BBC3 and while some episodes are awful, there are more than enough hilarious ones.
South Park can also be woefully bad or bloody hilarious.

No fans of Star Stories? I'm genuinely disappointed.

Post Re: Sitcoms/Other TV Comedy
I like South Park, although it has a tendency to alight on one joke and then beat it slowly and inexorably into the ground over the course of the episode, occasionally to the "enough already" point.

I have watched every single Blackadder, Young Ones and pre-cack Red Dwarf episode so many times since the age of about eight that I am incapable of finding them funny anymore, they are almost more like lullabies at this stage, I overhear a snatch of dialogue and am instantly sort of relaxed rather than anything else.

To my entirely unreliable memory the mid-'90s was a shit time for comedy, overrun all of a sudden with loathsome laddish bollocks like 'Men Behaving Badly' and anything extracted from the bowels of the unspeakable Baddiel. It picked up with 'Brass Eye' and 'Father Ted' (I also seem to remember liking Linehan and the other guy's prior series 'Paris', with Alexei Sayle as a surrealist painter in the 1920s) and then things seemed to get back on a more even keel in the '00s w/ 'Black Books' and 'Peep Show'. And the fucking Thick Of It, cunts.

I detest Peter Kaye, I despise Gervais, I abhor Matt Lucas and I abominate James Corden.

The Mary Whitehouse Experience and Newman And Baddiel in Peices was great. As was Fist of Fun and, later on, Big Train.

Can't believe I forgot those. Peep Show in particular, one of the most consistently funny shows in years. Also, Black Books was mentioned by someone, I fucking love that show.

Jesus. I thought it was utterly loathsome. The characters work well in the context of Phoemix Nights, but as main characters they were unbearable. The series was terribly written too.

Fist of Fun

What did Baddiel have to do with Fist Of Fun? I thought Lee and Herring wrote all the material themselves, a lot of it for their radio show.

I remember Who Dares Wins a Week in Benidorm being quite funny and Jerry Sadowitz : The Pallbearers Review being very funny although the latter seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth.

I always fancied the arse off Diane. I reckon I'd still have a pop at Shelley Long.

My favourite character is Carla though.

I never got Cheers. I'm prepared to accept that it was as good and important as everyone seems to think, because I'm not Shallow and I don't think my taste is THE ONLY POSSIBLE WAY TO SEE THINGS EVER, but it just didn't do it for me at all.
