Love the soundtrack. Had Death on one of the episodes (the black 19870 punk band, not the Chuck Schuldiner one). Spiny Norman wrote: Got 5 episodes into Man in the High Castle and knocked it on the head. Not awful, just highly uneventful, not that interesting and not very well acted. Really? The book written by Philip K. Dick back in the 1960s was excellent.

 Re: The TV Thread.
I have no doubt the book is good. The TV show, however, really isn't.

Apparently there'll be a second season, and they certainly left it open enough to do that, but it ended on an anticlimax IMO. Great for the preceding nine episodes, though. Really matched the tone of the movies, the second one anyway. Maybe not quite as manic, but not far off.
I've got two episodes left. There's a second series definitely. It's mostly filmed in New Zealand, hence the presence of Lucy Lawless (and those weren't her tits in it. They were stunt tits. Hers are bigger) and quite a few Kiwi extras . Lucy Lawless is also married to Robert Tapert, who is Sam Raimi's producing partner, and he's executive producer on Ash vs. The Evil Dead.

The latest episode of the X-files is 5 solid gold Fists. Darin Morgan episodes were always the best. He hasn't lost his touch.

I really have to get up to date with The X-Files, I'm only four episodes into season 2! All the worse considering I was given the boxset as a christmas present in 2014.

I've seen bits of a few episodes over the last few years and just found it incredibly dated, it also fell apart under the weight of its own mythology long before the end.

"Body double" is probably more technically correct...

 Re: The TV Thread.
The first episode of American Crime Story was decent. A ten part adaptation of the OJ Simpson trial with some pretty big names involved. Not all of them were good though.
Cuba Gooding Jr. is doing a good enough job as OJ but is totally wrong for the part due to being a complete shortarse. Simply not big enough to play the man properly. John Travolta appears to be playing Bob Shapiro like a character from American Horror Story. It's like watching Liberace, caked in make-up and wearing a black wig, with eyebrows and hands that appear to have a life of their own. Ross from Friends is pretty damn good as Robert Kardashian, but I keep expecting him to shout "WE WERE ON A BREAK!" at any given moment.
Some of the dialogue is a bit stilted too, with some characters sounding like they've got their lines from a Wikipedia article.
Overall though, it was an enjoyable opening episode but I have my doubts that it'll have the legs for ten episodes.

I am four episodes into watching Making a Murderer, it is possibly the most compelling series of anything I have ever seen, it's also incredibly bleak.

 Re: The TV Thread.
Yeah, despite finding it so compulsive I am in two minds as whether I want to carry on with it. I'm currently "enjoying" it for lack of a better term but not sure if that's going to continue to be the case, a couple of friends have told me it only gets worse.
Is there any mention of a serial killer in the series? I saw an article about the possible involvement of one today.

 Re: The TV Thread.
There's very little to be said about it without spoiling it TBH, just persevere (if that's the right word). The tone is maintained throughout, put it that way. A few surprises/'twists' to come.

 Re: The TV Thread.
Gave up on Lucifer after three episodes when it became clear it was just another generic, formulaic police procedural with a gimmick.
Agent Carter has been excellent so far this series. Shame it looks like there won't be any more.
Latest episode of The X-Files was excellent. Really felt like the show had come home.
The second episode of American Crime Story was great too. Cuba Gooding Jr might not be anywhere near the size of OJ, but his acting definitely makes up for it. Ross from Friends was excellent, Travolta's Bob Shapiro impression is still puzzling, and the little Kardashians looked to be even more annoying then than they are now. Some brilliant lines in it this week too.

I've got the first few episodes of "Billions" cued up. Anyone given this a shot yet?

 Re: The TV Thread.
Some of it was straight out of the comics. I approved.
There were some pretty dumb moments too, but overall, yes, it was definitely a good heavens episode.
Latest episode of The X-Files was a bit, er.. well. Yeah, whatever. Two characters who I really hope don't appear again (although apparently they do), one of the worst sequences ever filmed for a TV series, and a sensitive subject matter handled with all the delicacy you would expect from a Fox Network show. Not great really.
