 Favourite Action Films
Seeing as OLP suggested it, and we have a horror thread to keep good films separate from the load of old bollocks Stat and JCC watch, here's an Action Thread, partly focusing on the acting talents of such great thespians as Arnie and Sly.

 Re: Favourite Action Films
Terminator 3 was probably the worst of them (due mainly to the shiteness of John Connor), but it was still watchable. I think I'm the only one who enjoyed Terminator: Salvation.

 Re: Favourite Action Films
I thought Salvation was quite good.
T3 was tongue in cheek, and that's what a lot of my friends really objected to, as the first one os so good they wanted it carried on down that line.
T5 is worrying me a bit from what I've read the plot is. Sounds a bit shit. I like the idea of Arnie being an old machine and the skin does actually age, albeit slowly, that's quite a nice cover up of that.

 Re: Favourite Action Films
Is that the angle they're going for (I haven't heard any plot details)? I know they're digitally de-aging him, so I'd assumed they'd have him (as he is now) as the human template they sampled to 'grow' the Terminators' skin, and the digital Arnie as Terminators. Or something.

 Re: Favourite Action Films
Do the likes of The Getaway (72), Death Wish, Dirty Harry, Every Which Way But Loose etc count as "action" films? I prefer those to any of the mid - late 80's shoot em up or martial arts type films really, although I love the original Die Hard, obviously. A bit more grit, a bit less cheese, although 'Every Which Way...' has its share I'll grant you.

The Warriors Hard Times The Mechanic The Eiger Sanction White Lightning Gator Mad Max Mad Max 2/Road Warrior Conan The Barbarian First Blood Escape From New York The Thing Outland Krull 48 Hrs Thunder & Lightning Southern Comfort Mr. Majestyk Terminator Predator
That sort of thing.
Arnie at his best is not Commando, which is good fun, but Terminator, and Conan, which he was born to play. Keep the dialogue to a minimum, and just be a fucking badass.
The likes of Michael Bay, with the something-happening-really-fast-to-mask-the-lack-of-real-action cgi shitfest, and Will Smith with his "heelll nooo" bollocks, can go fuck themselves. They don't know the meaning of the word "action".

The Transformer movies wouldn't be half as bad if they cut out all of the Shia Le Bouef shitfest boy-gets-the-girl stuff and learned how to keep a fucking camera still, jesus.

Or something. From wiki: Quote: On the verge of winning the war against Skynet, Connor sends his trusted lieutenant Kyle Reese back through time to save his mother's life and ensure his own existence. But what he finds on the other side is like nothing he ever expected. After being orphaned at age 9 by a Terminator, Sarah Connor has since been brought up by another Terminator, played by Schwarzenegger, programmed to protect her. This Terminator has then trained her to face her destiny, which she adamantly tries to reject.

 Re: Favourite Action Films
I watched all the Mad Max films again last week actually. The third is pretty daft, but I enjoy all of them.

 Re: Favourite Action Films
Can anyone recommend some Chuck Norris films please?
I've seen Lone Wolf and the three MIA films, but not sure where else to go.
