The most convincing explanation for this is the oceans rising gloablly at the end of the last (and indeed previous) ice age. It's now believed ice ages started and ended fairly abruptly - over 50 years or so. There was much usabble land around the equator, which was destroyed due to the existence of so much ice emmanting from the poles. The eradication of these lands by the ocean not only explains the global spread of flood stories but also myths of lost continents - Atlantis, Mu and so on. [/Fortean Times Reader]

Re: Favourite News Story
I like the story of Atlantis having sunk because a comet exploded somewhere in the sky as it entered the atmosphere over Brazil causing a tsunami that drowned the island. Atlantis probably existing in the mid-ground between South America and Africa. Greece has history of being at war with Atlantis at the time of it sinking saying that Zeus and Poesidon drowned the place with a great storm.
Fun eh? Pseudo History is the best. There is also some theory that since tobacco and hemp seeds and other things were found in some of the ancient mummies of egypt that trade may have existed between South America and Africa because neither of those things exist in Africa. So some sort of traders must of shipped it over. Probably Atlanteans.
I'm such a geek.

I personally would go out on a crazy limb and suggest that the ancient Egyptians and South Americans were trading between themselves with no made up people as middle men.

A group of evangelical researchers claim they have found the remains of Noah's Ark thousands of feet up Mount Ararat, its biblical resting place, in Turkey. Skip related content Related photos / videos Explorers claim Noah's Ark found on Mount Ararat Play video

The exact location of the find has not been disclosed, but carbon dating conducted on wood and stone from the site has revealed their age as 4,800 years old, according to the scientists.
Further tests will be conducted on the items but one researcher claimed they were "99.9 per cent sure" the remains were that of the original Ark.
According to the Old Testament story, God commanded Noah to build the Ark to save his family and the world's animals from a global flood - sent to rid the earth of mankind's corrupt behaviour.
When I was in the shop this morning I spotted The Irish Daily Mail has a story about how politicians care more about badgers than children (or as they put it THE PICTURES THAT PROVE POLITICIANS CARE MORE ABOUT BADGERS THAN CHILDREN! or somesuch bollocks.) I cant find a link though, and as I don't read right wing tabloids I couldn't tell you what it's actually about (although I gather its to do with road safety) but it made me laugh heartily. They get outraged by anything dont they? They like being offended, they really need it. Hilarious.
