Spawn. I've never read it, am 'acquiring' the first 10 issues to see whether it's worth bothering with. It certainly can't be any worse than the film.

It's not.

They're broadly comparable.

Been asked to write a one shot for Pilot Studios for their Carriers series. It's about weaponized carrier pigeons...

It's part of a short story anthology being released sometime this year. So far just writing one story for it but it might end up being two issues so there might be more. More details here http://www.pilotcomics.com/comics.html

Has anyone read the latest He-Man MOTU series from DC comics? I've got the novel in the post.

Not even heard of it, sorry.

Still waiting for my super-heavy Invisibles collection that I got for Christmas to arrive. Boo.

Wow. Alan Moore throws his toys out of the pram (again), only this this it's a fucking apocalypse:

http://slovobooks.wordpress.com/2014/01 ... interview/

All of this started, essentially, because some bloke got offended at "An Evening with Alan Moore", walked out and went on Twitter, the 21st Century open forum of intelligent debate, I was there and no one else seemed bothered. He got pissed off at a short film that I admittedly found problematic and that I don't think a man should have written, or should have written differently. There's a labourious description in the "interview", it's more an extended vomiting of bile, though admittedly, he only made it in response to a request for an interview.

I think he's short-sighted about the Gollywog/Gallywag character and his description of Gordon Brown as a "bi-polar cyclops" jarred with me at the time and was uncomfortably reminiscent of Jeremy Clarkson's similar jibe. He defends himself against racism and portrayal of sexual violence reasonably well and his extended attack on Grant Morrison is gold describing him as a stalker and "Scottish tribute band".

I'm sad if he;s going to do less interviews, as he's the most entertaining interviewee I've ever seen, though he's said this before, so time will tell.

I know the feeling, I'd read them more if they weren't so expensive.

Recently read the Planet Hulk, World War Hulk & Aftersmash arcs. Decent, though Planet Hulk was very reminiscent of Edgar Rice Burroughs' Mars books.

Currently reading Scalped, a recent one set on a rundown reservation - corruption, poverty, vice, organised crime, etc. Enjoyable, though the art's shit.

Have you read Son of Banner? I enjoyed that.

Scalped took a while to get going but once it did, it was great - highly recommended. The protagonist's a bit of a cunt.

I've just read the first few issues of 100 Bullets, didn't think much of it TBH. Does it improve, is it worth sticking with? Fhil: I know you've read it, I'm not sure who else has.

The first five or so trades of 100 Bullets are brilliant. The story starts to go in a bit of a different direction after that. Still good, but the earlier stuff is better.

Is the first TPB representative, then? That's what I've read and, as I said, I wasn't particularly impressed by it so if the quality's generally around there, I probably won't bother with the rest..
