How are you guys able to make your avatars so big? What file types are you using? Because I have to keep reducing my pics until they are small before they upload.

Resize the pic you want in MS Paint, save as a jpeg, upload, done. No point in having a huge avatar, though, it just narrows the rest of the page.

It can't be more than 200 x 200 pixels anyway.

24kb file limit too.

.jpg or .png is what you want.

New Win 8 paint (possibly Win 7 paint) makes it much easier though.

You can set the larger dimension as 200 pixels and the smaller will alter keeping the aspect ratio.

You get the largest possible without skewing the image.

Again, you don't want them too big as it expands the left hand column and scrunches the main post. Not by much, granted but every little helps, which is why mine are no bigger than 150x150.

I have a 23" monitor.

I have about 4" of gap either side of the forum.

I've never had an issue on the 15" laptop either. Maybe you should zoom out or abuse yourself a bit less! ;) ;)

Never!

17" screen on my laptop. As I said, it doesn't do it by much, but it is noticable. That gap eiter side of the screen is annoying, though. Just a waste of space, like. It's not there on my phone, so it's presumably down to screen size and automatic formatting.

Miranda changed the site formatting to suit mobile or something.

Used to it at this stage.
