 Re: Recent Purchases III
Splashed on a few blu rays and took advantage of Amazon's 3 for £17 offer. Chalet Girl Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind The Breakfast Club Ferris Bueller's Day Off
The first being one I have a soft spot for, and the latter two for the features as much as anything else.
And Sherlock Season 3 for my sister.

Details on the TV? I'm in the market for a new one myself, though it'll probably the post-christmas sales where I grab one.

 Re: Recent Purchases III
The reviews on Amazon swayed it for me. Over 200 people gave it 5 stars, and some of the tiny handful who gave it 1 had naff reasons to dislike it (slow delivery, stuff like that). I've only had it set up for a day but it's given me no problems thus far. Looked at others in the same price range (£300ish) and it seemed to be the best of the bunch. There was an LG one but the stand put me off as it would have just fallen off my cabinet. The only down side is the shitty sound, but that happens with most wafer thin TVs because there's no depth to the speakers. Besides, I've got it hooked up to my hi-fi now so it's not really even an issue any more. Obviously, there are plenty of more expensive, better ones out there but I've got three kids. No point spending a fortune on a TV when one of them is probably going to end up putting their face through it or something.

 Re: Recent Purchases III
Price? Is it full HD or HD ready, how many HDMI connections, is there a USB port? I could probably do with just getting a 32" one (it's for the bedroom) but a nice big one would also be sweet.

 Re: Recent Purchases III
Full HD, 2 HDMI connections, 1 USB port. £319. Quote: Panasonic TX-42A400B Full HD 1080p Slim LED with Narrow Bezel - This is a slim and stylish TV with a very narrow frame around the screen that will look great in many different rooms and homes. As well as being slimline, LED TVs produce bright, eye-catching pictures and use less energy than traditional LCD or Plasma TVs. Built in Freeview HD Turner for free-to-air viewing in High Definition 100hz Back-Light Blinking switches the backlight off between frames to hide the lag whilst the TV panel responds High Contrast - Dedicated processing in the TV improves the contrast, making the dark areas seem rich and deep and the bright areas stand out. Higher contrast makes detail easier to see and brings out the full depth of an HD TV. USB Connection - A handy USB slot allows you to view your digital photos and movies on the big screen. It will even play your digital music from a USB stick.

Nice. I can't see Amazon delivering that here but it's good to know what's out there.

Just saw a 50" full HD in Tesco for €349. If christmas wasn't so close I'd be all over it.

 Re: Recent Purchases III
Yeah, there were a couple (a Bush and an LG) in the shop yesterday but the picture on them wasn't great and they were too big for my front room anyway.

 Re: Recent Purchases III
This would definitely be too biig for my bedroom, but I'm still very, very tempted! It would swallow most of what I've saved for christmas though, and I've got a busy/expensive couple of weeks coming up (2 siblings' birthdays on the 16th and 29th, my nephew's christening on the 21st, and christmas, with extra people to shop for). I'll have to pass, but I've been tormenting myself with the thought of it all night.

 Re: Recent Purchases III
Nah they are all on there, but the enthusiasm isn't really there for all of them. I'd say it's a pretty good album given the circumstances in which it was created. If you hated 8 Diagrams though don't bother because it's closer to that album in sound than classic Wu.
This is the 3rd rap album i've bought this year. The other two were Busdriver and Shabazz Palace.

 Re: Recent Purchases III
Hmm, probably give it a miss for a while. 8 diagrams only had one decent song on it so probably not interested in hearing more of the same
have to say U-God's album from last year was a good one, would have made my 2013 list had i actually brought it then. This year I think it's only been Army of Pharoahs (avoid) and Barrel Brothers, the latter might make my list for the year. Nothing inventive just good old school NY hip hop

 Re: Recent Purchases III
Yeh it's a similar mix of rap and R+B like 8 Diagrams with maybe a few more throwback vibes. There are some really weak beats on there too.
AOTP only had one really good album imo, and that was The Torture Papers all the way back in 2006. The follow up wasn't too bad, but after that it was all downhill.

You should hear them in 2014, even worse. The amazon clips were slightly deceptive, making me think there was a bit more variety but it's just the same fucking track x17. and that's not counting the second album they released this year.
