Granted it's 1 of only 3 albums I've bought all year, but I have been genuinely impressed with it. I think it's quite possibly their best album since Blood In Our Wells (which has basically been one of my favourite albums for the best part of a decade now).
I think they obviously had their experiments with Microcosmos and Handfull of Stars, but after that there's always seemed something missing, or like it leans too far in a certain direction. But it finally seems like they got the balance right again.

Really strong month:

Monster Magnet - Mindfucker
Noia - Iron Death
Slugdge - Esoteric Malacology
Aklash - Where the Ocean Meets the Sky
Drudkh - Їм часто сниться капіж
Mournful Congregation - The Incubus of Karma
Judas Priest - Firepower
Djevel - Blant svarte graner
and I haven't heard the new Primordial yet...

Priest just edge it at the moment, but I think the Drudkh and Mournful Congregation albums may have more longevity.

As expected, Priest came out on top by a distance, but there were some other damn good releases this month.

Ok, I just heard the album of the month last night. This was a bloody easy choice:

^^Will be one of the albums of the year for sure, if not the AOTY. Holy shit! And I'm no Sleep fanatic either. This just sounds HUGE!

I think it's OK. My interest in them was never too heavy anyway (the only one of theirs I've particularly liked is Holy Mountain, I find Jerusalem/Dopesmoker dull as dishwater and the earlier stuff made no real impression on me) but this certainly didn't blow me away after one listen. I'll give it time but at this stage I can't see what the fuss is about.

Play a Sabbath riff.
Repeat forever.

Play another sabbath riff, but slower.
Repeat for even longer.

Doom/Stoner fans might be wanking themselves into a frenzy over it, but as someone who didn't much care for Sleep before, this hasn't changed my opinion even slightly. Apart from maybe to not listen to them again for a long time.

April hasn't been the best month all round tbh.
I can only think of one good album, and the others I've heard range from okay to meh.

I can understand why you both may not like it.

Shit month.
Only two albums even remotely worth bothering with (sorry, even after another listen, Sleep did nothing for me at all), and those are only three fisters.

APRIL.

I'm basically a month late with this, but it's the only other 2018 album I listened to this year, and I only discovered it this past month.

Aura Noir is my choice for April, also enjoyed Wiegedood, Kroda, Black Magick SS, Winterfylleth and Voices.

I'm considering taking a risk on the new Voices. I've heard it's quite different from London. True? Are members of Akercocke still in the band?

^ It's very different to London. Hardly any death/black metal blasting, quite a bit of post-punk/goth influence, bits that sound like Ved Buens Ende or Voivod even, 80's Neil Peart-like drumming in places.... definitely worth taking a risk, it gets better with every listen.
Think the bass player is the only one without Akercocke connections.
