I was one of the few who liked Abbath's solo debut a couple of years ago. Sure, it was pure Bathory worship, but we all knew that was going to be the case. Reviews seemed to be more positive with this new one, but lo and behold, it's basically the same as the debut, but with a little more zip to it. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing really wrong with that, but if his entire solo career is going to be based on Bathory then I don't really see the point.

One of the few where? Here? In general? That was a highly acclaimed album that made pretty much every major metal best of list of the year.

I thought All Shall Fall sounded much more like Bathory worship than Abbath's first solo album, but I see your point.

I get the impression that he has picked up many new younger fans recently, and they probably don't care either way because they aren't familiar with the 'source'. He is also one of the few characters in extreme metal too, which definitely helps.

I wasn't a fan of the Abbath album. Mind you, I can take or leave Immortal really, so this isn't any of my business, I suppose.

I don't remember what people said about it on here, but any time the subject comes up with any of my friends and Facebook chums, the general response is usually "shit".
I don't remember how well/badly it did in reviews, but I like it. Even though it seems at times that I'm the only one who does.

I can't take Abbath seriously, which pretty much rules out me taking his music seriously. I saw him at Damnation a few years ago and lasted 10 minutes. I'd rather go and listen to genuine music.

It's the same guy who did this year's Atlantean Kodex, Rogga Johansson, and False albums, as well as Bell Witches Mirror Reaper. I had no idea who the guy was until a few weeks back, but his artworks had been standing out to me as something special.

Speaking of Atlantean Kodex... I'm calling album of the month early.

Haven't heard the new Korn yet, although I doubt it would change my mind about my top 3 anyway.
Sonata Arctica have a new one out too apparently, but I gave up on that bunch years ago.
Alice Cooper has a new EP too but it's only a covers thing so it can wait.

Special mention to the Ghost EP/single - 7" of Satanic Panic. Two great retro style songs there.

The new Korn is easily their best since the early 00's. Since either Issues or Untouchables, depending on your POV.

It is no masterpiece, but the band haven't sounded this good in ages.

Hard to believe the debut is 25 years old, I feel old as fuck.

Haven't bothered with them since Untouchables.
