That, and the "Witchburner" mini album are fantastic, later stuff not as good, and I wasn't overtly impressed with last years effort with the new singer.

And the EP indeed. Seems odd to me that they're still going, as nowadays they only release one not-exactly-worth-bothering-with album every six years. Also odd that they've got the Marduk singer in. Odder still that they called an album 'Don't Fear The Reaper' when they'd already set a precedent for humorously altering famous song titles. It should have been 'Do Fear The Reaper' or something. Dropped the ball.

I bought The Jester Race when it came out and it didn't impress me at all. I may still have it. If anyone wants it pm me and I'll pass it on. Anything I've heard since then I thought was gash.

Another new song off the upcoming album

First use of pinch squeals that I remember from them. I think I preferred the first track they released off it.

I'm the opposite but at this point i just can't get excited about a new release by The Haunted. I only return to the first two albums when i need a fix (not often).

The last time I really looked forward to a new Haunted album was when Dolving returned in 2003, but the last album was a step in the right direction, as I've said before.

There is no doubt that they failed to live up to their early promise though. Their debut is still great of course.

I've never really got The Haunted. The band has always just left me cold, and that song has done nothing to change that.

I feel pretty much the same way. The first time I really got a good deep listen was driving to Metal For The Brain one year and my mate brought along a few CDs, "rEVOLVEr" being one of them, which he was pretty high on. It didn't really do much for me though. I know that their first two albums are generally regarded as their best, but I didn't hear enough in "rEVOLVEr" to feel the need to dig any deeper (as well I was never that interested in At The Gates, which I imagine has allowed them to maintain some cred over the years despite middling reviews since the mid-00s).

Their first album is superb. Nothing after is worth bothering with, IMO.
