Jugulator is actually a pretty decent album, but Demolition is badger spunk.

Turbo lurks somewhere between 3 and 4 Fists, depending on my mood.

After some fresh listens I'm going to revise my opinion of Sin After Sin. 4 fists, easily. Still a little inconsistent but the variety on there is something I appreciate a lot more now.

New rankings:

1. Painkiller 5
2. Stained Class 5
3. Defenders Of The Faith 5
4. Sad Wings Of Destiny 5
5. British Steel 5
6. Angel Of Retribution 4.5
7. Screaming For Vengeance 4
8. Sin After Sin 4
9. KM/HBFL 3.5
10. Jugulator 3.5
11. Nostradamus 3.5
12. Point Of Entry 3
13. Demolition 3
14. Rocka Rolla 2.5
15. Turbo 1.5
16 Ram It Down 1.5

Haven't bothered with RoS, doubt it would bother the top eight judging from what I've heard. Definitely a reasonable effort, though.

Having listened to Turbo, Jugulator, Demolition and Redeemer Of Souls again lately, I feel to bound to retract some of what I said earlier in the thread. Redeemer... is still their worst album, no debating that but the Ripper albums are definitely shite. I couldn't be arsed with anything from them when I was making my Priest compilation. Turbo's still poor but not as bad as I reckoned then. Annoyingly catchy in spots, particularly Turbo Lover (though no tracks made it to the comp.).

Ram It Down's still shite.

I enjoyed Redeemer, but Angel is the only album of theirs really worth owning since 1990.

Angel is a little high isn't it?

I initially ranked it mid-table when I got it, but over the years it's crept up. It's quite a good stylistic summing-up of their career, in a way, as it draws on their 70s/80s/90s work. Then you have Loch Ness, which while being lyrically silly is like nothing else the band did previously, Priest go doom metal and it really works. I think it's a far more consistent record than SFV.

Loch Ness is fucking ace apart from the appalling ABBA-esque chorus. Fuck these cunts. They haven't done a decent album since Painkiller.

'Defenders' is usually my go to Priest LP. Great songs and the solos from Tipton and K.K. are practically incandescent at times. The only thing that takes it down a notch for me is the use of a drum machine but eh, it was the 80's.

Yes those disco drums date the album. Everything else sounds good though.

Did Dave use a drum machine on Defenders?

Apparently a drum machine was used here and there, both on 'Defenders' and 'Turbo' before being used for most (perhaps all) of 'Ram it Down'.
