10 fists! Those 2 are not a bad start at all.

10?! I certainly have reservations about a 5 fist rating for Screaming for Vengeance. 4 would be more appropriate.

Agree. Time and the dearth of quality new releases does funny things to people. I could get maybe a 4.5, but 5? Nah. That's reserved for the truly great albums.

A 5 for Vengeance, British Steel and Killing Machine is just plain silly. The rest of the 5s I can agree with, apart from Sin after Sin which I would give a comfortable 4.5.

And I'm sure after 8 years it will remain unchanged. :D

Correct.

Incorrect. Killing Machine is just not a 5 fist record, sorry. It's got some great songs but I have always felt it's a little too insubstantial. Doesn't help that it's sandwiched between the groundbreaking Stained Class and the quintessential British Steel.

Ram It Down and Turbo as I've mentioned before are JP's nadir, 1 fist and 1.5 fists respectively.

Angel Of Retribution is pretty damn strong, easily their best post 1990 effort. I even like Loch Ness. 4.5 fists. Nostradamus isn't as good but it's not a 2 fist album, 3.5 is more accurate.

If you think Ram It Down is a one fist album you're either 1) not really into metal 2) deaf 3) have never heard it.

It's not they're good, bad or indifferent (but they are pretty bad or dull anyway) - it's more that they just don't really count. False Priest basically.

Painkiller is probably the single most metal album in existence, the vocal power coupled with the speed/tempo is mindblowing.

Sin After Sin, and Stained Class would be close second/third place though. They're not on the same level of Painkiller though in my opinion

There is no song on painkiller that makes you not want to heandbang, it's a fucking classic of metal in every sense, at the same time the most masculine and most gay album that exists, it transcends reality as we know it. Much like Halford is so straight he's moved past women and onto men.

Both of those albums are better than Turbo, Ram It Down and Redeemer Of Souls, all sub-2/5 albums.

Metal Meltdown is the only song on Painkiller that I wouldn't describe as good, but it's still pretty good.

I'd say that "Demolition" is comfortably the worst Priest record followed by "Redeemer Of Souls" & "Jugulator".

I recall Demolition sounding better than Jugulator, but the songs aren't better. Jugulator definitely needed a bigger production. It sounds very cut price.

One of the worst things about Demolition was the cringeworthy "fucks" on it. Priest using bad language in their songs just made them sound even more clapped out than ever.

"Metal messiah" was the only thing approaching a half decent song on it. Pity they didn't release a Rock In Rio style live album when Halford rejoined. Would've been interesting to hear him tackle that one.

"Devil Digger" was comfortably the best track on "Demolition" for mine whilst I also like "Subterfuge". That's about it really.
