I was listening to Twilight of the Gods while I was out in the driving sleet earlier. 'Under the Runes' is brilliant.

Ok, now this may seem a bit odd, but I've only just actually got into Bathory. Shame on me, yes I know.

I got into Bathory late too. Back in the day, if it wasn't in the store, then you didn't get it. I think I saw brief mention of them in one of the magazines. But it wasn't until decades later that I started hearing about Bathory from young people with the Internet. Someone made me a compilation CDR of the first 5 albums and I was hooked. Have obtained most of the albums on CD now.

Comes and goes. I like and appreciate them, but I wouldn't call them a 'go to' band.

Blood Fire Death and Hammerheart are my top 2 and are both 5 fists, then I would probably go to Blood on Ice before Twilight of the Gods. All them 4 are great, but very rarely think of or want to listen to them.

Not bothered with any of their other albums.

You not a fan of Under the Sign then?

Also, you really should like the Nordland's if you like Hammerheart and Blood on Ice.

Hammerheart, Twilight of the Gods, Blood on Ice and the Nordland albums are the only ones you need to have, but it's nice to have the rest too.

Did you mean to miss out Blood Fire Death? Come now, even not being their most ardent fan it's quite clear that BFD is a bit of a good 'un.

Yes, I did. It's the most interesting of the remaining Bathory albums, but I can't remember the last time I felt like listening to it. Just a warm-up for Hammerheart, really.

A Fine Day To Die, For All Those Who Died and the title track of BFD blew my mind when it came out. As did Hammerheart and Twilight Of The Gods. The other albums didnt have exactly the same effect.

I've still to get into anything post Twilight. I have them all and have listened to them, but nothing has really stuck the way the first 6 have.

At least you like 'classic' Bathory. I was worried you'd prefer the covers/tribute albums, or something ;)

To be fair I do prefer Munruthel's cover of the Lake, and it's a pretty close run thing with Nokturnal Mortum's Valhalla. But by and large I do seem quite normal when it comes to Bathory haha

This.

Though I used to prefer BFD. Changed my mind when I last listened to all the Bathory albums a few months back.

BFD has fond memories for me, of sitting in a friends bedroom in the late eighties marvelling at the album cover with the music blasting.
