Between The Buried & Me - The Anatomy Of

Took this off my iPod recently because it's not all that good to be honest. I don't even know why I bought it and added it to my iTunes - probably my habit of needing to own every release by bands I like.

Just the wrong side of boring for me. Dead Heart..., Godless Endeavo(U)r and Obsidian Conspiracy are better

I can understand why it would, but I've found it quite enduring, actually. It's strictly a "when I'm in the mood" album, but as the Metal equivalent of a can of Red Bull it's spot on.

Now deleted (from my MP3 player, anyway): Horslips - The Tain. Sorry, Sol, I wanted to like it, but the actual-folk-music-quotient was too high, and the Rock too low. I think I wanted a whole album of Thin Lizzy playing Emerald, which it is not.

Yeh, Godless Endeavor and Obsidian... are pretty dull too. Just cos I was grumpy last week, doesn't mean I was wrong.

Have shifted a couple of tracks to the ever expanding "Various Rock/Metal" compilation and binned the rest

My mate's band is influenced by this band and I just want to shake him and yell, "COPY A BETTER BAND!"

Has Natalie signed up for a V For Vendetta sequel?

Just deleted a load of stuff I got off Grindcore Karaoke by a band called James Doesn't Exist, would have loved them if I heard them 10 years ago but I've grown out of sub par Converge clones.

Nevermore have some very good tunes, but they come across as ever so earnest and serious and "thinking mans metal" that its hard to listen to them for too long. If they had the creativity and personality of say, early Queensryche then it wouldn't matter so much, but they don't. Fucking lighten up cunts! ;)

Also, that fucking guitar sound, jesus christ, its an 'orrible digital squall. I don't expect them to be all NWOBHM about it, but it somewhat dulls the impact of decent riffage, and sucks the energy out of the tunes, like some vampire Bob Rock.

I've just realised I've got the last Pantera album on my iPod. That'll be coming off when my laptop gets returned.

I don't mind that Pantera album so much. Not particularly imaginative, but there are a few decent tunes on there. Its better than the "southern metal" it inspired at least.

I'm with Morf, they're awful. For years I was convinced that they were a joke band.
