Post Re: PARADISE LOST
And Cardinal Zero sounds like early stuff of Paradise Lost, but this is not the same, plus bands like Type O Negative sounds like Paradise Lost in many ways. And............Linkin Park sounds like Paradise Lost.

Here is example:
Paradise Lost - Unreachble (2007)

Linkin Park - New Divide (2009)

Well, as i said before, Linkin Park is fuckin plagiators. So, yo are wrong

That's because he's mostly posting rubbish new songs and live versions.

Maybe this is just me being contrary, but personally I find there are few things more likely to put me off a band than someone enthusiastically going "Listen to this! It's brilliant! And this! It's brilliant too!" and bombarding me with Youtube links.

most people here know their songs from 1991-1997 era, thats why i post live versions or new stuff :)
i don't want to dictate one's will, thats why i don't write something like "Listen to this! It's brilliant! And this! It's brilliant too!"
it's impossible to please everyone. Some people here thinking Linkin Park is good and Queen is shit. It's their opinion. Mine - Paradise Lost one of the best bands ever. I like In Requiem, I love FDUDUU. PL cant write bad songs. I respect people who disagreed, or says what Nick sings bad, but i know other examples. Thats it :) He not always sings as on record, and now he can't sings as like he did in 1992 or 1995. But he can sings like he did on albums since 1997 until 2009. His harsh is still powerful and listenable. Lot's people here think with me what PL more independent in sound than MDB. So, whats the problem? :)

If someone can't take their new stuff of dont like them anymore - don't listen. I dont need to ecourage anyone. Trigg asked - he got examples. I tried show to him dinamic of evolution of PL sound. Cardinal Zero sounds like stuff from Shades of God. Thats what i think

"Cardinal Zero"

Centuries, born to break my weary soul
Sanctioning, scorn to break my dearest foes
To rip the face off this
Reaching out I lost control

This soul in shame
All I can take
Who holds the blame
All that I've wasted

Sent to rest, scorn to break my weary soul
Sufferance, force to break my dearest goals
To rid disgrace from this
A loss of mind is lost control

This soul in shame
All I can take
Who holds the blame
All that I've wasted

To raise the gate, ever so elated
Erase the day ever so disdained

Descent awaits never you'll restrain this
Regret awaits forever your embrace

As we already know, Host is the best album. Icon is good, Draconian is hugely overrated and tedious. Paradise Lost is very good and Symbol of Life is a cracker. Their two best songs are 'One Second' and 'Say Just Words'.

Symbol of life is cracker but One Second and SjW not their best. you just love these 2 songs more then other stuff, because they are catchy for listener.

Well, that may be so, but every time I've seen them (since they were released) those two songs get the biggest cheers by far, so a lot of people agree with me.

mali is right, they are both fav favourites, especially Say Just Words.

Even fans that didn't like 'One Second'(the album) like that one!

Post Re: PARADISE LOST
Some interesting (and by interesting I mean largely wrong) posts here.

The band have become less and less interesting with each album for me, but up to and including Draconian Times they were one of my favourite bands, and One Second has grown on me, but I find their later work largely uninspired compared to what they did in the early 90's, with only a handful of genuinely great songs. And as Dee pointed out somewhere, the guitar sound on their later heavy albums bears little relation to the one that defined their earlier work, which makes it unappealing for me personally, as that was one of the reasons I was drawn to them originally.

It may be fair to say that MDB have been the more consistent band overall, and they have certainly had the better albums in the last 15 years or so, but I would take Shades Of God/Icon over albums like 'The Angel And The Dark River', anytime, and as far as debut albums go, Lost Paradise is far better than 'As The Flower Withers'.

The early work of both MDB and Paradise Lost is clearly better than what Anathema were doing at the time. And what Anathema were doing was fucking great, so that's not a criticism, more an opinion. Well, a fact that has been dealt.

Anathema's style was much less distinctive imo. that's why whenever people say that so-and-so reminds them of early Anathema, i'm kind of like 'what?' it takes me a little longer to get what they mean.

Gregor's guitar sound is different on the last few albums, but his tradework leads remain intact, and that's good enough for me.

Wretch, i disagree. I much prefer As The Flower Withers, and Turn Loose The Swans mauls Gothic too.

Gothic has 3-4 amazing songs, and the rest is just average to good imo.

His lead work hasn't changed too much to be fair, and that's a good thing IMO, but that early guitar sound and riffing style was one of the best in metal for me, and probably the main reason I prefer early PL to their peers.

I think Lost Paradise has aged better than 'As The Flower Withers', and again, the guitar sound is a huge part of why I prefer what they were doing at the time.

I would rate TLTS and Gothic about even though.

To me Turn Loose... is still the best MDB have ever been though. Although 'Like Gods Of The Sun', 'The Light At The End Of The World' and 'The Dreadful Hours' are all pretty close.

Nonsense, it still sounds as good to me now as it ever did, and it is still better than most of the extreme metal out there nowadays.
