The first riff sounds a lot like:

Not an exact match, but close.

Came across this one the other day. Intro sounds very, very similar. ;) Beyond that, they are quite different.

Opeth - Benighted (1999)

Camel - Never Let Go (1973)

^^Yeah but in Åkerfeldt's defense, he has been largely responsible for the interest in old prog shown by metalheads over the last 15 or so years.

Interestingly enough, it was mostly the Northern Europeans that showed any real interest towards it and could be heard in bands like Amorphis, Therion, and In The Woods as well as Opeth.

Most of those famous prog bands were British, yet the Brits looked down on that music in the 90's. It was viewed as cheesy and dated in the Anglosphere really, not just in Britain.

Vivian Campbell didn't really try to hide the fact that he borrowed one of the riffs from his Sweet Savage days on this Dio track. Check out the opening riffs in both songs. Dio also had a track called "Straight Through The Heart" on "Holy Diver" which can't be coincidence.
