Indie twerps Ash nicked a riff from Monster Magnet's Powertrip in one of their songs (can't remember it's name though)

Morbid Angel - Existo Vulgore, the riff at 25 seconds sounds like Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal. :)

Speaking of Michael Jackson, the one that I always remember when it comes to steals is the main melody on 'Give In To Me' (from 'Dangerous', ft. Slash) sounds uncannily like Suicidal Tendencies' 'How Will I Laugh Tomorrow'. Just gayed up a bit.

Mudhoney's 'Sonic Reducer' begins suspiciously like ST's 'Subliminal' as well. Not the main riff, but the intro murky bits. Just slowed down a little.

I meant 'Sonic Infusion', obv. Durrrrrrr

When I recently listened to Exciter album and the song Mission Destroyed it made me think of Am I Evil but many other early thrash songs I recently listened to make me think of 'The Big Four' but I didnt realise it as much at the time (except obvious ones like War And Pain)

On Cathedral's Carnival Bizarre the song "Utopian Blaster" blatantly lifts a riff from Thin Lizzy's "Emerald". Another song on the album blatantly lifts the riff from "Moby Dick" by Led Zeppelin. I understand it's probably homage or something but they're the exact riffs...

These are what I thought of when I saw the thread. I'm prepared to believe they were so scatty on pot at that point they thought they'd written them - as happened with 'Cyclops Revolution'.

Cathedral's 'Earth In The Grip Of A Skeletal Hand's main riff is the same as the riff from Discharge's 'Massacre Of Innocence'. I know it's suppose to be a Discharge 'homage' but it's just the exact same riff.

Absolutely right about the Primus one. I've been saying that for years to anyone who will listen. I never thought much about Cochise. I'm Broken is a much better song. Cochise is just a lazy Tom Morello bluesy riff. I forced myself to like that album until one day I said fuck it lets listen to some proper music.

There's always the classic Nirvana/Killing Joke scenario. 'Come As You Are'/'Eighties'. Apparently, notorious shit-stirrer Jaz Coleman was so outraged when he finally heard the song that he threatened to sue Nirvana within an inch of their lives. And then Cobain did himself a favour and KJ decided a lawsuit would be in poor taste.

Along with the Killing Joke/Nirvana riff there's a Damned song in there somewhere too . Can't remember the name of the song but it seems Killing Joke thieved it first.

Janick snuck a few White Spirit riffs into Maiden...

Man On The Edge in particular.
