Yeah, he did the whole "Satan" thing back then but most if not all people talk cobblers at that age. And talking cod-satanic cobblers was all part of it, sadly. As a person, he seems normal enough. Never really liked his prog stuff and Emperor's music gradually got worse as his control over the songwriting increased.

Enslaved just seem like a laugh really.

I dunno, I think the pretentiousness in BM reached a peak with the second wave lot.

He's a bit "look at all my celeb mates" I suppose, but he isn't the only one. Does anyone remember the thanks list in the inner sleeve to 'Chaos AD' where amongst the bands thanked are Max's own side projects with members of bands already mentioned so he can essentially thank the same people twice (and arguably, thank HIMSELF) just to pad the list out?

Well he only had one side project, Nailbomb, and they are thanked in the "thanks to the following bands" bit not in Max Thanks bit. i doubt it was to pad the list out, probably just to mention Nailbomb.

Hetfield and Ulrich have to be up there as being truly detestable.

The money making jewism of Anthrax as well, punting one singer for another constantly.z

I'll add the black metal twats like Hellhammer, Faust, Jon Nodveidt, Varg and that Kanwulf kunt.

Racist Jock cunt.

Dave Grohl. I'd knock his horsey teeth out.

What is there not to like about Dave Grohl? Honestly. OK, the Foo Fighters might be a bit shit, but he seems like a thoroughly nice bloke.

He comes across as really insincere to me. One minute he's "so hardcore punk rock like D.C man Bad Brains like I grew up on that shit man. it's the reason I play drums. Oh no wait John Bonham is the reason I play drums, no wait I love the beatles and cheap Trick and I'm in Foo Fighters, no wait I'm so metal I'm in Probot. Oh and everyone wants a piece of me, they all love me, qotsa, Lemmy they fucking love me man, we're like best budz".

A person liking more than one kind of music?! What a fucking traitor!

I see what Bás means to an extent though. Some of that generation of musicians were hardly respectful of metal when then came along, and they all played up the hardcore thing, and now they are all going on about King Diamond or whomever, it does leave a bad taste, some of it comes across as a bit insincere. Then again, I suppose the punk bands did the same, year zero and all that.

How did Grohl manage to make such a piss pooralbum when he had people like Cronos and King Diamond guesting, Probot didn't even sound like actual metal as far as I could hear.

Just as a matter of interest can anyone actually pinpoint the moment Kerry King stopped being cool?

What? What did it sound like then? Surely he just wrote a load of so-so pastiches of his fave metal bands. It's not great, an amiable curio, but of course it's flipping metal. Don't get why his sincerity is being called into question, he recorded most of the Probot music in 2000, when heavy metal was still sad old gumby fart music, and he's obviously always had a wide range of musical passions, interests and influences.

Kerry King stopped being cool when he cut his hair, obv.

Yeah... I thought about 1995 myself. Definitely in that ballpark.

A what now?

It was an armband of six inch nails.
And that was pretty fucking cool in the 80s and early 90s tbf.

In fact, call him a gobshite or whatever, but Kerry King is still one cool motherfucker.
He even looks cool in this pic.

I remember there was a picture of him on the South of Heaven tour playing with his nail armband and a huge upside down cross done in what looked like car-lights. I thought it was the best fucking thing ever at the time. He was cool as fuck then.
