Fuck it, just downloaded Sunbather. Will judge whether its worth all the knicker-wetting, or is as bad as the cover suggests.

4fists. Very good and an enjoyable listen.

Is Sunbather the name of the band or album? Since so many on here love it I feel I ought to give it a listen at some point.

Also, 'Sunbather'? Fucking 'Sunbather'? What kind of a name is that?

A terrible one, but oddly appropriate. The album (which is Sunbather - the band is the equally un-Metal Deafheaven) has songs called Dreamhouse, Windows and The Pecan Tree. Seriously.

Only listened twice now, and it's good for what it is but I'm not sure how much I like it. It's Black Metal if it had developed from a completely different set of aesthetics - contemplative and bitter-sweet emotions rather than freezing moons and arctic northern ice-mountains.

I guess they're from the same school of thought as Liturgy with their 'Transcendental Black Metal'

I've just been reading a few interviews, actually, and they seem to be much more grounded and reasonable than Cunter Cunt Cendrix.

I have just discovered a "Black Metal" band called Raspberry Bulbs.

I'm not joking.

That made me do an embarassingly loud laugh - the fact that they're called that and that's their album cover is an amazing combo.

They're terrible!

Something about the combination of Death Metal and the Eagle Nebula made me unable to resist.

I was going to wait, but I thought sod it, I'll probably still be buying it irrespective of when I listen to it.

There was a ludicrously hyperbole-ridden review in Tegs that actually claimed it was the best album of all time, in any genre. The bassist was going out with the editor.

Here's a link to a scan that the band are not ashamed to have on their website:
