I find it different for many albums. Venom's Black Metal has to be turned up past 20 to hear it in all it's glory while something like Demanufacture could be blaring at 13 or so.
Wasn't there something called the loudness wars with 90's metal?

Blood Oath is still on the go. The other one I hadn't heard.

A lot of things sound good loud but I make a habit of listening about as low as I can while still hearing it reasonably clearly. I have a bit of hearing damage and I'm eager not to fuck it up even more.

Whilst wise from a health point of view, you might not be perceiving the true sound of a lot of music. If you turn your music right down and back up, listen to the low end but whilst remaining concious of the rest of the music, you'll notice that's probably the most significant change in perception. (As it's always there, we just perceive lower frequencies to be quieter, if memory serves, using dBA weighting, we hear 100hz at roughly 20dB lower than it actually is, rising to -10Db at 300, and at 0 at 1000. However at 3000Hz we percieve it louder than it actually is, which is why babies crying always seem so loud as that's roughly that frequency.

If you have a DAW like pro tools you can do a test if you have someone with you where you get a 1000hz sine wave as a reference tone, and then get another set of tracks track with increments across the scale (going up in 100's perhaps), and then get someone to help you. Put headphones on and close your eyes, they then play you the reference and then mute it, and then turn the frequency you are comparing down to as low as it will go, and then the other person slowly brings it up and you tell them to stop when you think it's as loud as the reference. You can plot it on a graph and it will look like one of the various weightings, but what you find is, you over compensate at lower frequencies, then level out, and then around 2000/3000 you under compensate, and then in the very high end where hearing loss naturally occurs, you end up over compensating again. It's quite interesting.

Quite like the Powerwolf. Preferred their last one, 'Blood of the Saints' though.

Too many to list, my mate told me to bring round my hard drive as he'd made a folder of death metal for me to copy.

Fucking awesome. How 3 blokes can make so much noise is fucking beyond me. Production is decent too.

I can't quite see the logo, is that Impiety? I've always meant to check them out more. You like Deiphago too don't you Turdy? That's a good band - not that I'm an expert in that sort of style.

It is Impiety and I have been meaning to add more stuff of their's since I got "Advent Of The Nuclear Baphomet" EP. Yeah "Satan,Alpha,Omega" was a great record although I have not heard anything Deiphago have done prior to that.

Fuck it, just downloaded Sunbather. Will judge whether its worth all the knicker-wetting, or is as bad as the cover suggests.
