Re: Top 3 albums/discs/vinyl/eps of the week!
haha close. It's 'All My Sins' which I agree sounds like an emo band. They're a Serbian black metal band that fall somewhere between eastern European atmospheric black metal and blackened thrash without really sounding like either of them.
The second is Dodsrit who combine d-beaty hardcore with melodic/atmospheric black metal. Sounds a bit chalk and cheese on paper, but I think it works.
The last is Chapter V: F10 who are a Raventale side project. It's rooted in atmospheric black metal, but instead of trees and mountains and mythology, they seem to have gone for a more industrial apocalyptic vibe.

Trap Them has sponsored this last week or so with 'Sleepwell Deconstructor' and 'Seizures in Barren Praise' which are both beastly to a bollock-bursting level. The former more blastbeat-leaning, the latter more hardcore punk leaning. They both together amount to just over 45 minutes and I've really appreciated them in all the different listening environments. These are furious records. No.Fx - Pump Up The Valuum - it's one of the most solid and funniest NoFx records, with the least amount of fucking about on it, which is good. I generally don't like ska-punk and I think NoFx spend too much time doing all that shit. I'd rather it all be fast and lectric. Something I dunno what stops this being my favourite but objectively I'd say one of their best. Goatsnake - I - haven't heard this for ages and loved it, the fuck did I forget them for? The good tunes on here are stonkers. Speaking of fucking about, there's a bit of that as well.

I sometimes wonder if Soulfly albums are passable in spite of Cavalera’s involvement

New Soulfly is awesome. There's a phrase I never would have thought I would say back in 1998.

New Soulfly is awesome. There's a phrase I never would have thought I would say back in 1998. The longevity question remains though and has basically haunted Soulfly for 20 years. Their albums just don't tend to have any real staying power, regardless of how good they sound on the first few spins.

Re: Top 3 albums/discs/vinyl/eps of the week!
I enjoyed the High on Fire.
Frontierer - Unloved - UK extreme - High energy, Mandelbrot level of detail, chaotic modern techy extreme metal. Really OTT browbeating experience. Atomck - Every Room in Britain - UK grind - pushing it with the production of the high vocals (they were always shrill but sound kestrel-like here) but I love their ideas and drummer, and enjoyed it fair enoughs. Soilent Green - Inevitable Collapse In The Presence Of Conviction - apparently there will be no statute of limitations on my love for the SG records. It was always a hiatus type deal but I fear the band might be in the can now, looking over things. This last record was their best I reckon.

I didn’t actually, I’ve just always enjoyed that record. Just revisiting it after a while. I’d forgotten how much I enjoyed it and it’s slightly left field approach.

Shame that most of their solo albums were a bit of a wash.

Yep. Goretex and Ill Bill had a few moments but I can't say I was ever compelled to multiple listens. I'm not normally one for rap groups but I did quite like the Non Phixion as well, Black Helicopters was like a gateway hiphop tune for me in the early mid 00's.
