I saw West Coast hip hop outfit Tha Dogg Pound support Deftones at UNSW Roundhouse back in January & that went down extremely poorly. I don't think anyone in the audience even looked at the poor bastards during their set. It was complete disinterest.

Tha Dogg Pound is still going??? Fuck me, that must be embarassing. Forty something third tier west coasters who imagine people actually want to hear that shit from back in the day.

Not bad as such, but I saw them with Entombed and Slayer.

Going on after Slayer is never a good idea.

I've seen Maiden with support from all sorts of shite. Last time was Airbourne in Cardiff. They weren't bad, really.
I'd have loved to have seen the tour with MDB as support.
And I'd fuck the living shit out of Lauren Harris.

Piece of piss nowadays I'd imagine. Their Sonisphere set was tired, limp and sad.

:(

Same as their set at Hellfest 2014. Or at least as much as I could stand to watch. Dull, dull, dull...

Time to hang up the instruments lads.

No. But even Tom looked like he was sad. Kerry looked like he was angry, but dead inside.

It was just.....crap.

Shame. I was never bothered about seeing them and, now I never will, I'm beginning to regret not taking the chance at least once. I'd get over Lombardo not being there anymore as I've just as much respect for Bostaph, but no Hanneman, no Slayer.

Yeah, living with one member not being there is one thing, but the more the core gets chipped away, the more it matters.

Bostaph (who cares?) was more than capable (but dull) and whats-his-name was technically proficient too but just seemed to reek of "I know I'm not Jeff, I'm just doing a job ok?" and nervously not enjoying it.

Tom just doesn't seem to care anymore, and that's a real shame. From all of the recent performances I've seen of Slayer, he just seems bored and uninspired. Kerry... well there's never much to say about him, never liked him anyway.

They were on form when I saw them last month. Tom just get thrash about because of the neck thing, but he was hardly laying up. Holt was having a lot of fun, but still was just playing songs that he just couldn't OWN the way he might during an EXODUS gig. Bostaph is solid. Always has been. King was grooving nicely. He moved around, played off of good crowd reaction and did seem to be enjoying himself. Festival show too. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Then again, I'm kind of the US Spiny.

They were utter shit at Wacken, Tom was singing with the look of someone who absolutely could not give a fuck. With as much enthusiasm as someone who has done the chips in Macdonalds for the past 10 years.

Maiden with Funeral For A Friend and unless I'm imagining it Trivium?

I'm pretty sure it was both. FFaF on DOD tour, and Trivium on the AMoLaD tour.

^ Yep. Saw both of these and let's just say I thought the choice of support could have had a little more thought put into it. Trivium were the more obnoxious of the two.

I do remember that Motley Crue/Killing Joke tour when it was advertised and thinking how odd it was.

I did go to a HIM show once purely to see Cathedral supporting, then left before HIM came on. The moment when the crowd had the heaviest version of A Funeral Request I've ever heard unleashed on them was entertaining to say the least.

On the subject of crappy support bands, Cheap Trick were woefully boring when I saw them supporting Deep Purple 4/5 years back. Fucked off to the bar after four tediously unmemorable songs.

Carcass playing with Suffocation

The band had no energy, are overall inferior to Suffo, and the vocalist didn't engage the crowd. Carcass have never been as good as Suffo, but it was made all the more apparent by their languid appearance and mediocre setlist. Weak band.
