Glenn sounds hoarse as fuck in this interview. Says he's been sick. Perhaps he recorded those vocals when he was ill.

(Him and Steve Jones are talking utter bollocks for the most part too.)

"The Earth is living - it knows when it's out of balance - that's why we get pandemic disease."   At least Glenn has the ability to parrot a few bullshit ideas sloshing around the toilet of American public consciousness - but Jones just sounds like a complete dullard. He honestly seems lobotomised.

Lucifuge is a great album. 'Mother' pisses me off. Misfits are OK. Cant name a Samhain song.

Misfits were alright. Overrated and repetitive but a few standout tracks here and there.

I've only heard November Coming Fire from Samhain, it's fucking awful.

Danzig were great for the first three albums but nothing after that interested me - though Circle Of Snakes was OK, I suppose.

Circle of Snakes would have been a great album if the production was better and if Glenn's voice was as good as it was in 1993.

There are some very well written songs on there.

his vocals are better than the last track, but the production is still questionable. Sounds a lot like old Danzig music wise.

The real problem is that the vocals are mixed way too high, which isn't good considering Danzig's waning vocal power.

Agreed

That, and the horrendous guitar tone and overuse of harmonics. He still has some good song ideas, and I enjoyed the likes of Deth Red Sabaoth for the most part, but that shit ruins his latter day albums for me. Tommy Victor, much as I like Prong, is not the right fit for Danzig IMO, although obviously he is doing what ol' Glenn wants, so it's not entirely his fault.

Sad to hear his voice so diminished, but as Robit says, maybe they were recorded when he was ill, I know he hasn't had the power of yore for some time, but he sounded pretty decent on the covers album.

Firstly, welcome back! Secondly, I think Victor is a mixed bag in Danzig. His leads sound like plug ins, which obviously isn't good, but when he is playing full or open chords he sounds fine. The chugga chugga riffing style worked on at least half of Circle of Snakes, so it isn't like he is an ill fit all of the time.

Danzig needs to pony up and hire a producer, although in his case it isn't just about money, it's about control. He doesn't want to listen to an outsider's input, which is a shame because he desperately needs to.

Strangely enough, I'm more looking forward to the Elvis covers album than Black Laden Crown, but I'll pick them both up for old time's sake.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to the Elvis tribute too. I was listening to his Elvis Radio interview again, his playlist had some nice surprises, some deeper cuts from Presley's albums, even some stuff from his movies which people may dismiss, so I'm interested in seeing which songs he covers.

Agreed on the need for a producer, someone like Warren Riker would be interesting.

Yeah, solid version vocally, even with the loss of power he gets the tone right.

I actually preferred his take on 'Let Yourself Go' from Skeletons, which I thought was the best thing on the album, although I enjoyed the Everly's track and 'Devil's Angels' too.
