Don't get me wrong. I think it's a great album, but he does need someone to help him apply the brakes every now and again.

Apparently, the mad direction of the album is down to Chad Kroeger who told him to do the opposite of a commercial album. Well he certainly did that.

FB, I think. There's a new track floating around too which sounds like something off The Key, if anyone's interested.
Here, I forget how to embed these fucking things...

I like the sound of that. Their last few albums have been pretty decent.

Arch / Matheos reveals details for new album, 'Winter Ethereal'; launches video for first single, "Straight and Narrow"

Winter Ethereal will be released May 10th on Metal Blade Records. A video for the song "Straight and Narrow" is available now for streaming. Watch the video and pre-order the album in various bundle packages at http://www.metalblade.com/archmatheos

In progressive metal circles, the names of guitarist Jim Matheos and vocalist John Arch are spoken with due reverence. With the former having been a driving force in Fates Warning for thirty-five years, and the latter the original front-man of that band, they also have a single seminal work under the Arch / Matheos banner, 2011's Sympathetic Resonance. In 2019, they have reunited to follow that record up with Winter Ethereal, a more stylistically varied and perhaps deeper collection that explores a lot of sonic territory over the course of nine immersive tracks. "This stems from both of us trying to step out of our comfort zones a bit, sometimes voluntarily, sometimes being pushed," states Matheos. "Having worked together so many times, it would be easy to fall into the same way of doing things, and I think we were both interested in exploring some new areas." Arch concurs and adds: "Each song is notably different from the next, and nothing sounds repetitive. It is not a concept album, but somehow after a full listen from start to finish, there does seem to be continuity between the songs that I can't describe. At over an hour long, I think the fans will agree that it is a full listening experience."

Winter Ethereal will be available in the following formats:
-digipak-CD
-black / white marbled swirl (US exclusive - limited to 700 copies)
-clear w/ blue smoke (US exclusive - limited to 300 copies)
-180g black vinyl (EU exclusive)
-blue / red marbled vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 300 copies)
-ice blue marbled vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 200 copies)
-white vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 100 copies)
-white / black marbled vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 400 copies)
* exclusive bundles with shirts, plus digital options are also available!

Winter Ethereal track-listing
1. Vermilion Moons
2. Wanderlust
3. Solitary Man
4. Wrath of the Universe
5. Tethered
6. Straight and Narrow
7. Pitch Black Prism
8. Never in Your Hands
9. Kindred Spirits

New song here:

I dig it.

Jesus christ...

Not only are 3/4 of the Burn My Eyes line-up reforming to play the album live in full for its 25th anniversary (Flynn, Mader & Kontos, with whatever jobsworth is currently on bass - which might be alright if Flynn could learn to just play the fucking songs), but they've re-recorded the album in full for a future release. Just fuck off, Rob.

Head Cases me hole.

Seriously? I could understand them re releasing it but to re record it? There was nothing wrong with how it sounded in the first place: in fact, it sounds amazing.

The guy is a grade A cock womble.

Terrible idea. If they were going to record new music, that would be OK, but re-recording an album that sounded great to begin with is just pointless and dumb.

^^They're baaaaaaaaaaaack

More Manowar news...Into Glory Ride and Hail To England re-issued in remixed and remastered editions...

http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/manowa ... o-england/

I'll probably get these as I fucking love those albums (HTE, in particular). If they sound good I hope they tackle SOTH as the mix on that is fucking weird, as if it's mixed in Mono...

Absolutely pointless, and we can be sure that's going to sound terrible, given how Flynn's ego and posturing have grown in the years since BME. I'd have expected a live recording but I can't see any good coming of this. It's a sgmhame that Duce didn't come back, but there was no chance of that happening.

Still, it can't be any worse than Catharsis, so there's that.

Catharsis was a fucking joke.

If Flynn doesn't reteam with the original members, I have little faith that he can release good music again. His judgement is totally off, and he'll probably just hire goons he can push around.

He's doing that anyway, this reunion is only going to be the second half of these anniversary shows. First half will be with his new hirelings, second half is Burn My Eyes in full. Expect a live album/DVD next year, I imagine.

This is a great idea. Particularly "Hail To England". I look forward to hearing the results.

^^Don't get your hopes up. There is only so much they can do with those recordings, no matter how well they remix or remaster them.
