Ok- this deserves a standalone thread....

We've done it before but...

2. Inferno
3. 1916
4 Ace of Spades
5. Kiss of Death

Post Re: RIP Lemmy
Fucking hell... :( I'm so sorry to hear this. I'm reading about it online now, and an aggressive cancer got him. I was worried about reading something along the lines of this a few months ago when his health was being talked about on here but forgot about it as time went on. Rest in peace, you absolute fucking legend of Rock 'n' Roll! You will be sorely missed by all.

Sad indeed, though not unexpected. Just that you never thought he could be killed. RIP.

Post Re: RIP Lemmy
Dude lived his life the way he wanted, and managed to just sneak past 70 at that! It's sad, perhaps not totally unexpected, but he was still doing what he loved till the end.

^^Plenty of tributes there from Manowar to Poison and even Amy Lee. The impression given is that Lemmy was respectful and supportive across the board, regardless of style or popularity.

I was really bummed out when Weiland died, and truth be told I've spent far more time listening to STP than Motorhead, but Lemmy's death really is a gigantic blow to rock/metal. He was truly an icon in every sense of the word and a model of consistency for other to follow, but there is only one Lemmy, and now he is gone. It really does feel like the end of an era.

Post Re: RIP Lemmy
I've never really been into Motörhead but the band's importance is indisputable, they are the first of the "immortal" bands to go, I guess Sabbath will be next, Priest and Maiden can probably last another five years. I suppose Metal will become like Jazz where all the legends and innovators are dead.

Lemmy was articulate and interesting and I know a couple of people who met him and said he was friendly and happy to chat.

You really are a dick: I couldn't care less about your stupid views but keep them to the appropriate places.

RIP Lemmy.

I guess we all assumed you would live forever, but at least you are immortal in many other ways.

^ This, couldn't put it better myself. RIP.

Motorhead are still one of the loudest bands I've ever seen live. This would have been about the seventh or eighth time I saw them. Previous times they'd been loud but not unbelievably so, however that time [Brixton Academy 2010] it was like standing next to a jet fighter. I came out of the gig and my ears just had this loud electrical buzzing sound going through them.

Indeed. It's hard for me to accept that Lemmy is now someone to simply 'remember'. He was such a strong presence, and always has been.

RIP Lemmy. Motorhead were one of the first Heavy Rock/Metal bands I got into. Fucking brilliant live, too.
Absolute legend. There'll never be anyone else like him.

Post Re: RIP Lemmy
Sadly, agree with this ^

When PL & Vallenfyre, and Black Sabbath with Anselmo projects would have to gone I'm easily will stop listening to the modern heavy metal music. There is far too few sincere band left and still exists not much good. Even newer bands like Ghost or SATAN styish to older classics, so...

Really sad news. I am sure if he had his time again he would live exactly the same life. Won't pretend to be a massive Motorhead fan but have enjoyed nearly everything I have heard.

A true icon has been lost.

Satan isn't a new band like Ghost is. Sure, they've released new material, but they're maintaining the sound they've had since the early 80's, and it sounds great.

Sorry, I should correct myself, dude. Satan is a new one for me :)

Also, lots of the Russians in Runet saying good about Lemmy, like 'grandfather from steel' or 'I remember like I've been on your concert when I were pregnant with my husband, memories for the whole life' and the rest good stuff. Have no idea why my pervious message was deleted but here we go, cos Lemmy was important (and still) for Russian fans too:
