Post Re: New Lacuna Coil track
I really like the LC song and Delirium. It is a bit different to their previous work but I'd actually say that it was less hooky than their previous album.

Admittedly, I'm a huge LC fan but I don't believe that this album should get a hard time.

Post Re: New Lacuna Coil track
I've listened to the new Lacuna Coil in full. I have mixed thoughts about it. I actually like that they have got 'heavy' again, and Delirium is their heaviest since Karmacode. The problem is that the 'heaviness' is often overpowering and detracts from the songs, which aren't always that well written to begin with.

Christina sounds really good as usual, and the vocal production is great, but the songs are very hit and miss, and there is far too much shouting/screaming on the album too. Ferro has always been an acquired taste at the best of times--he ruins material more often than he enhances it--but he sounds even worse on this album. His attempts to sound super 'aggressive' sound forced at best and comical at worst.

Right now I'm feeling a 2.5 to 3/5 It has its moments, but overall it's not a particularly strong album. It could be a grower though, like Broken Crown Halo was, so I'll give it another 2-3 listens before dismissing it completely, but I'm not hopeful.

There is no doubt that at this point they needed to change, but Delirium is not the answer to their problems.

I agree with you completely.

The problem is that Ferro and others making music for teenagers. These press-releases stuff like too melodic to be metal too heavy to be rock is the mask of their stopped creativity talent IMO. Christina doing great work with vocals and people like their stuff at the gigs, but nowadays LC albums are close to be terrible. They are better as acoustic or live band.

As for Delirium:
The only song I really enjoy and want to re-listen without blood from my ears is 'Downfall' track. Two much forced man vocals, production of guitars (?) is too 'post-Chaos A.D' if not pro-american. I started to think badly about LC since 'Shallow Life' and things even worse. But even 'Shallow Life' was okay to the usual listening plus 'Oblivion' is quite good song.

I've just never understood the appeal of Lacuna Coil. Their early 2000's material was probably the closest they came to offering anything that I'd find interesting.

A local charity shop had four or five of their albums when I was last in. Seems someone local grew out of them all of a sudden...

Delerium grew on me, surprisingly. It is their best Karmacode.

Post Lacuna Coil
I saw Lacuna Coil last summer in Knoxville, TN and it was a great show. I thought the band played with a lot of energy, so maybe they had an off night in Columbia. Within Temptation was awesome to see, but the rest of the bands on the bill were boring. I'd like to see another Coil/Temptation bill with no other supporting acts.

She sounds more like Dolly Parton recently.
